On 7/11, the day of the Slurpee no less, President Trump decided to give his thoughts on Bitcoin.

I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity....

The most popular currency for criminal activity is the US dollar.
Trump:
Similarly, Facebook Libra’s “virtual currency” will have little standing or dependability. If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations, just like other Banks, both National and International.
Me:
Trump is living in a permissioned world as we trend towards a permissionless one. But he hits on what this is all about, the threat of countries losing their monetary sovereignty.
Trump:
We have only one real currency in the USA, and it is stronger than ever, both dependable and reliable. It is by far the most dominant currency anywhere in the World, and it will always stay that way. It is called the United States Dollar!
Me: Lol, it’s the skinniest fat guy in a room full of fat guys. Every fiat currency eventually fails.

Strange tweet to say the least. Especially since the Donald loves gold. You’d think he’d like gold 2.0.
