Three reasons altcoins are going to survive

People like choice ,regardless if it makes technical or economic sense, people will always want to have more than one option.
People like to speculate ,currently this is the main use case. Humans are at their heart degenerate gamblers.
People are irrational , see points one and two.
I do agree with a lot of the points so called bitcoin maxiamalists make, Im just not in the Maximalist Jihad. You will never be able to get rid of these three points, you will never be able to get rid of altcoins.
Is it worth your time and effort to develop, trade or hold altcoins?
You will have to make up your own mind on that.
