Welcome to the 47th weekly installment of my series on Steem income and growth!
Income on the Steem blockchain is generated by "investment" (the more currency you have, the more you earn) and by "work" (earning currency by contributing content that adds value). Already having invested my savings in STEEM, I'm now working by uploading unique valuable content to the blockchain. My first goal is to increase my average weekly income to 50 USD.
Calculating weekly income
Considering income from accounts that I own, that my wife owns, and group projects using our funds (currently @drutter, @medikatie, @greatesteem, @hempy, @girlsofgreen, @vantocan, & @sativazeee), here's the running tally:

Despite the realization that we're probably all part of an advanced simulation, my team managed to stay focused again this week, and brought in a strong tally of upvotes. Thanks to those who support our content-creation efforts on the 'chain!
At these ridiculously cheap Steem prices (under 30 cents), it's hard to talk about goals. We started off not really knowing what our general rate of growth was (turns out it's a steady 1% weekly). We also had no idea the price of Steem was about to shed over 90%, starting when we bought in. So this has been an interesting learning experience.
I guess you could say our current goal is just to be able to maintain this high level of content-creation quality and quantity. Aiming for certain numbers is tough in such a volatile market. It would be nice to be able to make, say, $200 a month. We could put it toward expenses and equipment upgrades, which would then reflect in the quality of content we can produce, but let's face it: Even making 17.6 Steem per week, that's only about 74 per month, which currently converts into 22 USD.
$22 per month isn't nothing, and we're grateful that our investment and work amount to something.
Just saying, Steem needs to go back to about $3 (10 times the current price) before we can even think about spending any. At least we know that, and have something to hope for, as we put in the daily work.
$3 Steem is possible, if the people involved make good decisions, and if (when) the cryptocurrency market recovers. I still believe 2019 will be a year of stabilization and 2020 will see new highs.
