A Short Note on Why 2019 Could Be the Year of Bitcoin

It is just a few months into 2019. One thing is quite evident about 2018 - it was a horrible year for Bitcoin and, of course, cryptos generally.

The year was so horrible that some investment analysts dubbed Bitcoin the worst investment of 2018. Frankly, that is not far from the truth considering the fact that Bitcoin has crashed by over 80% from its all-time high.

It's time to forget about all the bad memories of 2018. 2019 could be a promising year for Bitcoin and the crypto world in general. Here is why:

The Emergence of Institutional Investors

One of the major reasons why starting from the second quarter of 2019 we could see a surge in the price of Bitcoin is the emergence of institutional investors in Bitcoin.

Sometimes in the first quarter of 2019, two major American prayers, Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange, which are jointly worth trillions of dollars will be coming into Bitcoin.

Of course, such moves will bring new money into Bitcoin and move it closer to mainstream adoption. If this happens, we could see a surge in price.

The Bitcoin Halvening of May 2020

The next Bitcoin halvening is scheduled to take place in May 2020. Bitcoin halvening is a period when mining rewards are significantly slashed to regulate the supply of Bitcoin.

So far, an halvening was seen in 2012 and 2016 and on both occasions Bitcoin reached an all-time high about a year later.

Consequently, it is expected that the halvening of May 2020 will drive the price of Bitcoin upwards. Wait a minute, but next year is 2019 and not 2020.

So, how does an event of 2020 affect the price of Bitcoin in 2019. The answer is simple - masive accumulation usually begin months before the halvening.

The Growing Adoption of Security Tokens

Part of the reason why we saw a bull run in 2017 was the prevalence of ICOs. We saw investors buying massively into ICOs using Bitcoin and Ether.

But soon, regulatory clampdown on ICOs due to the growing cases of fraud led to loss of confidence and massive sell offs.

The next big thing in crypto is the growing adoption of security token that gives stake to investors.

In 2019, we are very likely going to see massive investment in security tokens. And that should likely drive the price of Bitcoin in an upward direction.

Personally, I believe that 2019 is going to be a good year for Bitcoin and cryptos generally. This is the best time to accumulate because there is nothing to lose even if the price goes down slightly again before the bull run.
