Italy, home of Blockchain companies
Although Italy has remained discreet in its implications for the Blockchain, six major Italian companies have already taken the plunge to exploit the many fields of application of this technology.
Banca Mediolanum
Banca Mediolanum SpA . is an Italian group of banks, insurance and asset management. The company uses the Ethereum network to record and share documents relating to environmental and social standards to be respected by the Italian financial industry. In addition to this application, the group is looking for other uses of the Blockchain in sharing relevant data over a distributed network.
Barilla
Barilla is an Italian agro-industrial company that is working with IBM to roll out a Blockchain-based food traceability system. This new system aims to verify the origin of foods and their follow-up using Blockchain technology.
Carrefour Italy
The French hypermarket located in Italy is the first retail company to use the Blockchain in food traceability to ensure greater transparency on the quality of its products.
Create
Create is an organization controlled by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Recently, it has adopted a Blockchain solution to monitor and follow the path of wood from its plantation to its transformation into furniture.
itTaxi
itTaxi is a network of taxi drivers with more than 15,000 members. The company collaborated with the Italian startup Chainside to develop a system for paying taxi fees in Bitcoin and other popular crypto-currencies.
Unicredit
Unicredit SPA . is an Italian global banking and financial services company that has collaborated to set up the crypto-payment platform we.trade.Group . The platform in question allows companies to pay their suppliers in crypto-payment.
This list is far from being exhaustive because several other Italian companies have already initiated the Blockchain in recent years.
