Introduction - what's this all about then?

It seems no matter how much time I spend reading about and trying to understand this space, I have nearly daily "surprises" discovering something new in this space that makes you think you don't know squat. This spans across the core technology of blockchains (The Bitcoin and Crytpocurrencies course from Princeton on Coursera was quite helpful: https://www.coursera.org/learn/cryptocurrency), through to "token economies" or token-based business models, to ICO's and there many variants, to Blockchain 3.0 projects like Cardano, EOS, and NEO.

Just the "Enterprise Blockchain" space for private/permission-ed Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT's) is hard to keep up with. There are a couple of better known, large projects like Hyperledger Fabric and R3 Corda, but then dozens of other start-ups claiming solutions in this area. I have a Enterprise IT background, and one reason I have been investigating this is to understand what platform could be the dominate Dapp platform in 10 years, and will the DLT/Token/Dapp paradigm replace the dominant computing/programming paradigm for last 30+ years: Data Centers/Servers/SQL Databases/Java- C/C++ programs....

And now, I have arrived here on Steemit. This is my first post, and I have been reading about STEEM and "Steem Power" and Delegation and yada yada yada, and I again have the nagging thought in the back of my mind, did everyone know about this but me?

Browsing through some of the posts, there seems to be a lot of content about the platform itself and its content monetization mechanisms....so it's a blockchain-based social media app that rewards good content and at this point, "good content" is stuff about "a blockchain-based social media app that rewards good content"? Ha!
