Blockchain Memory Project - My Trip To St.Catherine, Sinai - Photography & Great Lesson (Part Two)!

Hello steemians, this is Part two of my contribution to the Blockchain Memory Project by @ericvancewalton

In the early morning of the next day we went to visit St Catherine monastery. The monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in the world. Though being in Egypt, it doesn’t follow the Egyptian Orthodox Church rather the Greek Orthodox Church. The monastery resides at the foot of Saint Catherine Mountain. Visitors were prohibited to enter the monastery with uncovered shoulders or knees, so such visitors were given pieces of cloth to wrap themselves in before stepping into the monastery.

As we were moving to our next place on the list we stopped by a very ancient burial place called “Tal Al Nawamees”. Al Nawamees are circular, separated tombs that allegedly date back to 4000 BC.

Our next stop was the Monastery of Cosmas and Damianos. The monastery was very quiet, empty of inhabitants and unfamiliar atmosphere. The monastery also has huge garden filled with olive trees and tall cypress trees.
