Steemit rulebook

The rulebook in Steemit is created by all of us. Whales help enforce important ones. Others can join in so I am not discounting the effectiveness of the rest of the community. I know there has to be unspoken rules that is a given.

It takes faith to write this post and believe someone will read it. No rulebook can give me faith.

Rules vs. faith

A voice emanates from an old cassette player radio discussing the difference between laws (rules) and faith. He gives an example of following the law for 25 years and then after 25 years he breaks the law, they will put him in jail. You're not rewarded for following the law. Then he spoke of faith it rewards you.

Faith creates rewards

This gets me to thinking we do something because of our faith in it. This creates happiness keeping us going. Which can result in a reward. Happiness comes from inside not out here in the world. Even if we think something out in the world made us happy. Happiness is an emotion we create inside of us.

Laws can be referred to as rules

The rules start young about crossing the street. Later there are more severe rules. In my case from a church where I grew up in Texas, back in the 1960's.

If I ever question the religion they gave me a rule about God. He (they told me he is a man in Heaven) would take me out in some way. Something terrible will happen to me.

At an older age I did question it. I remember that faithful day when my child mind begins to think beyond the confines of our community-attended church.

Looking up at the board behind the pulpit in front is were they keep count of how many sheep (people were referred to as sheep) in attenedance.

Freeing the spirit

That faithful day in my childhood I walk outside, direct my statement to the man in heaven, "Okay, I am going to search outside of this church." Then I prepare myself, thinking this is it. Nothing happens that day other than me opening my mind.

I smile and of course wait a few days in case there is a delay in action.

Let's move on because I am not here to write about religion. This is simply an illustration of how a strong act of faith changes things.

Rulebook to live by

The rulebook I am here to talk about is the one we chose to live by. Not our religion, job, Steemit, or anything else in the world. The thoughts and feelings we experience because of our rules that affect our health. That rulebook.

What if it is okay to be happy? What if you and I are enough just as we are?

For some this may be radical thinking. This is not the rulebook most of us are handed. My parents never asked me what makes me happy inside. Their rules were rules handed to them by their parents.

Depending on which area of the world you are in there are rules you must abide by, same here.

The happy rulebook has only one sentence in it.

"You are enough." Think about that.

I Am Enough!! This is something I have been coming to terms with. I have also written this on my daughter's dressing area so she knows she is enough. Even if I were to create some sort of lack in her. To believe in her gut feeling, hang on tight to the "If you don't want someone to do this to you, don't do it them" and be all that you can be. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Feeling we are enough allows us to be ourselves. Sounds like you are a wonderful parent. โค๏ธ

We are enough indeed. We need not earn our valuation, it is innate. Also innate is our freedom, which implies the natural laws of morality which acknowledge this aspect of our nature. There are rules which each may only ignore at their peril, but they are not laid down by man.

Man's laws, be they religious or otherwise, are of no obligation whatever, and whoever attempts to assert them as valid is acting as a devil, an aggressor, a deceiver, despite their best intentions.

It's also worth investigating what we believe will make us happy. Our happiness must be derived from within to be valid. As you say, "Happiness is an emotion we create inside of us." We use outside phenomena as an excuse to be happy, but we might just as easily create this happiness without that excuse. This doesn't mean you can't enjoy your new boat or whatever, but just understand what's going on at the causal level. The power resides within.

Well said @bbblackwell!
As usual, you are a master with words. Thank you for your visit and comment. I am honored. โค๏ธ

How are you putting emojis in your posts, when I do what it says in the Markdown guide, itโ€™s not working  See?

The rulebooks handed by families all over the world donโ€™t intend to make people happy rather to make them fit in their societies or religious group. Their rules might help keep you safe, respected, successful or good person according to social terms, but defintely not happy.

Be sure to read this part :)

MY bad for not starting out the post with that...:)

I had already red that part. I never comment on a post before reading through it. :)
Yet I am not sure I properly understand it.

Thank you for your follow up comment and open-mindedness. I believe sometimes when people see the word religion they think that is what the post is about. I am sorry if it caused any confusion. The post is about us being enough that is all.

good point I agree thanks for your comment..
maybe squeeze into my family's rule book it is okay to be happy and you are good enough...
that is all I am saying ..fine line I know once the word religion is written. I am not against religion.
I took a chance writing this.. I am brave :) @alignment

A very sensible approach to life if you ask me. Of course you are enough. It is a fact undisputed. If the world fell apart tomorrow you would still be enough.
The world is what we make it and having some imposed ideology dictating our thoughts when we had no say in those ideas is truly nuts.

Thanks for the voice of reason. With today's climate, it is difficult for people sometimes to think they are enough. I put a sign up with those words and it has been very liberating for me. @molometer

Good for you @rebeccabe we all have to do what is right for our own sanity. The world we grew up in cannot dictate our futures unless we let it.

"You are enough." Think about that.

Love it! Everyone should follow this rule and then maybe the world would be a happier place...

true ..it has helped me a lot

Without faith we are lost. Itโ€™s something we all need to help us with the ups and
downs of life.

Hey @luckyfellow you are right.

I love this! WE ARE ENOUGH. The trouble lies in coming to this realization, and then once you do, remembering it despite the onslaught of the many who stand to gain by getting you to believe otherwise. Really good post, @rebeccabe.

Thanks @ericvancewalton .. Hey I noticed your rep is 75 that is high...wow!

You're welcome! It took lots of work to get there. My wife and I were just commenting on how long it's taken to move beyond 75, I've been there for nearly a year.

You walked in being famous. A published author and people flocked to what you had to post.

Before Steemit I had a small following on social media but, at that point, was just an indie author (like tens of thousands of others) trying to get noticed. I have this platform to thank for all of the good things that have happened. I'll be forever grateful.

PS @ericvancewalton you did a lot hard work I know that too

Such wonderful words of wisdom ! It took me a lot of my life to learn that!

thx so much for commenting,,,, glad you are knowing this to be true
