Road to SteemFest4 || Killing Two Birds With One Stone

I have always wanted to visit Thailand for a long time. In fact, I actually did plan a trip to Thailand. I even booked the flight ticket accommodation, about to head for the tropical holiday of my life.

But as luck would have it, that never happened. I had to cancel the whole trip because of some last minute complications in my personal life. It was heart-wrenching for me at the moment.

Now that Steemfest 4 is going to happen in Bangkok, there is more reason for me to join. It'll be like killing two birds with one stone.

For those that do not know what Steemfest is, you may read about it here. This is the 4th Steemfest to have happened since 2016. After attending Steemfest2 in Lisbon, Portugal, I just can’t get enough of it.

To go or not to go, that is not the question.

I obviously want to go so much. Whether I can go or otherwise, that’s another story. Aside from a limited budget, I am also worried about not getting the green light to skip classes from my lecturers. This is due to the fact that I am planning to be away for 1 week. That is not to mention that my parents won’t be happy about me going to a foreign country to meet “strangers”.

But of course, I thought of the ways to solve these problems. As for the budget, I am thinking of offering Maths tutoring for my fellow classmates. I am pretty confident that I am good at it and will be able to make some money to cover for my flight ticket, accommodation and maybe even the Steemfest ticket itself. I also found a private tutor website and will try it out. Oh, and if it’s still isn’t enough, I will be selling my beloved winter jacket. I won't be wearing it anymore anyway.

As for the lecturers, I can write a letter to inform them. It will be the beginning of a new semester so I don’t think I will miss anything important.

And…..

That is if I don’t change to a new university. I’m currently waiting for my result for my application to a new uni and if I happened to be accepted, that’s a new problem to think of. But for now, let’s just focus on the problems at hand ;)

As for my parents, I’m pretty sure they won’t allow me to go to a foreign country, especially because they know nothing about Steemfest or the Steem blockchain itself. I think the only way is to let them know when I’m already there and to convince them I’m going with a group of TeamMalaysia and this is important for my social life.

While I’m still not sure whether I’m going or not, I’m already pretty excited for Steemfest4! And it will really depend on how much effort I put in the next few months! So time to work my ass off!

Oh wow are you in Malaysia? I am part of Team Malaysia too! I hope we all make it SF4! It's going to be awesome. I have never attended one before but I am so looking forward to meeting everyone in the flesh. You can do it! Maths tutoring and all! Tell your parents a little by little, you still have time. I am a parent and I know that I would like and appreciate it if my sons tell me. All the best @vaelriey
