SteemPress Plugin: A Short Review (Bilingual)

Recently SteemPress announced a news greeted with joy by blog authors. That, they get a delegation of 1,000,000 Steem Power to help blog authors get the benefits and incentives from their blog writing activities. Through SteemPress Plugin for WordPress, SteemPress invites blog authors to join the Steem Blockchain ecosystem.

SteemPress is a plugin that runs on the WordPress platform. This plugin is built by @howo and @fredrikaa and officially launched on January 21, 2018 and in beta. Until this writing is written, SteemPress has undergone two updates, namely version 1.2.1 in May, and version 1.3.1 in June. I was lucky because it included one of the earliest bloggers using this plugin on the blog I managed: acehpungo.com.

Initially the presence of this plugin escaped the attention of Steemit users, especially those who do not have a personal WordPress blog with paid hosting. Based on my observations, when this plugin was released not received much welcome from the users of steemit. This is evident from at least the steemit users review this plugin. In fact, this plugin just get 4 times the download on January 27, 2018 or six days after it was released to the public on January 21, 2018.

The highest number of downloads was obtained by plugin on June 6, 2018 which reached 250 downloads in a day. This increase occurs after the @steempress-io account writes a post that tells them they get 1,000,000 Steem Power to curate content written on WordPress blogs using the SteemPress plugin. Until now, SteemPress plugins have been downloaded 700 times, and the number will continue to increase as the plugin is popular among Steemit users who have paid WordPress blogs.

Why is this plugin getting overwhelming response from Steemit users? In addition to being easy to use, WordPress blog authors who post content using SteemPress will get an upvote from @steempress-io whose voting value is highly dependent on the quality of the written content. Based on my experience with this plugin, the average percentage of votes I earn is 3.5 per cent. Only once did I get an upvote percentage of 15 percent. However, I'm also happy because all the content that I write using the SteemPress plugin or through the blog get upvote. Because, I monitor a number of content published by Steemit users where not all content gets upvote from @ steempress-io.

Is SteemPress available only for WordPress blogs? So far, yes! However, there is a possibility in the future, SteemPress will also be available on blogs that use Google's blogspot platform. At least here's what I catch from the explanation of this plugin developer, @howo and @fredrikaa. So, before SteemPress comes to blogspot, it would be nice to use WordPress blog to get curation and upvote from @ steempress-io. I strongly suggest to steemit users to start creating paid WordPress blogs, and to make their blogs not look new, try exporting posts from blogspot to wordpress. However, do not use steempress first if the process of moving blogspot content to wordpress has not been done. Because, this is very vulnerable to enter @cheetah and get downvote from @steemcleaners.

The good thing is, using steempress does not require us to write in English. "You can write in any language you want," wrote @howo in one of his explanations in Discord. We also are not required to use the tags steempress in every post. "Any tags are fine." He continued to answer the question of a steemian, whether in each post should include the tags steempress. They have their own tools in finding content posted using SteemPress, not by tags.

So if a steemit user writes content directly on the steemit.com site or uses party apps such as busy.org, esteem, or partiko, and adds the steempress tags, they will not be counted. According to the developers, only content posted via blogs using SteemPress plugins will get curation and upvote from them.

Can one blog be used for multiple steemit accounts? Actually okay, but very vulnerable to the flag. One of the goals of the SteemPress plugin is to help bloggers who join the Steem Blockchain ecosystem get fair benefits and incentives. "Not yet but the demand for that feature has been overwhelming, the expert that feature to be implemented fairly soon," replied @howo related to this.

Someone ask me, whether the SteemPress plugin affect the blog using Google Adsense? So far, no problems. You see, the use of plugins for WordPress blog is a common thing. Indeed, Google Adsense has very strict rules, and prohibits anyone using fraudulent ways of getting clicks on Adsense ads installed. The SteemPress plugin is clearly different from other apps, as SteemPress only helps bloggers publish content on blogs automatically to Steem Blockchain. "It's not an issue," @howo answered the doubts of Google Adsense publishers.

How about blog speed after using the SteemPress plugin? As we know, the use of plugins (which quite a lot) does affect the speed of loading a blog. Especially for blogs that use small capacity hosting and has limited bandwidth. As far as your blog does not use a lot of plugins, I do not think it has any impact on the speed of your blog.

One more thing that most users asked SteemPress is about cutting rewards using the SteemPress plugin. How much does SteemPress retrieve all the rewards earned by a steemit user? Based on the information I read, the @steempress-io took only 10 percent of the rewards earned by a steemit user. The number of deductions is the same as we use @esteemApp app which also takes 10 percent profit. However, when compared to busy.org, utopian-io, dsound or zappl, the amount taken by @steempress-io by 10 percent is small. This amount is also used to continue developing the SteemPress Plugin to continue to be used by steemit users.

Baru-baru ini SteemPress mengumumkan sebuah kabar yang disambut dengan suka cita oleh penulis blog. Bahwa, mereka memperoleh delegasi sebesar 1.000.000 Steem Power untuk membantu penulis blog mendapatkan benefit dan insentif dari aktivitasnya menulis blog. Melalui SteemPress Plugin for WordPress, SteemPress mengajak para penulis blog untuk bergabung dalam ekosistem Steem Blockchain.

SteemPress adalah sebuah plugin yang berjalan pada platform WordPress. Plugin ini dibangun oleh @howo dan @fredrikaa dan resmi diluncurkan pada 21 Januari 2018 lalu dalam versi beta. Sampai tulisan ini ditulis, SteemPress sudah mengalami dua kali pembaruan, yaitu versi 1.2.1 pada bulan Mei, dan versi 1.3.1 pada Juni. Aku beruntung karena termasuk salah satu blogger paling awal menggunakan plugin ini di blog yang aku kelola: acehpungo.com.

Awalnya kehadiran plugin ini luput dari perhatian para pengguna Steemit terutama yang belum memiliki blog WordPress pribadi dengan hosting berbayar. Berdasarkan pengamatanku, saat plugin ini dirilis tidak banyak mendapat sambutan dari para pengguna steemit. Hal ini terlihat dari sedikitnya para pengguna steemit mengulas plugin ini. Bahkan, plugin ini baru mendapatkan 4 kali download pada 27 Januari 2018 atau enam hari setelah diluncurkan ke publik pada 21 Januari 2018.

Jumlah download tertinggi diperoleh plugin pada 6 Juni 2018 yang mencapai 250 download dalam sehari. Peningkatan ini terjadi setelah akun @steempress-io menulis sebuah postingan yang mengabarkan bahwa mereka mendapatkan 1.000.000 Steem Power untuk mengkurasi konten yang ditulis di blog WordPress menggunakan plugin SteemPress. Hingga kini, plugin SteemPress sudah didownload 700 kali, dan jumlahnya akan terus meningkat seiring populernya plugin ini di kalangan pengguna Steemit yang memiliki blog WordPress berbayar.

Mengapa plugin ini mendapat sambutan luar biasa dari para pengguna Steemit? Selain karena mudah digunakan, penulis blog WordPress yang memposting konten menggunakan SteemPress akan mendapatkan upvote dari @steempress-io yang nilai vote-nya sangat tergantung pada kualitas konten yang ditulis. Berdasarkan pengalamanku menggunakn plugin ini, jumlah rata-rata persentase vote yang aku peroleh adalah 3,5 persen. Hanya sekali saja aku mendapatkan persentase upvote sebesar 15 persen. Namun, aku turut senang karena semua konten yang aku tulis menggunakan plugin SteemPress atau melalui blog mendapatkan upvote. Sebab, aku memantau sejumlah konten yang dipublikasikan oleh pengguna Steemit di mana tak semua konten tersebut mendapatkan upvote dari @steempress-io.

Apakah SteemPress hanya tersedia untuk blog WordPress? Sejauh ini, ya! Namun, tak tertutup kemungkinan ke depannya, SteemPress akan tersedia juga di blog yang menggunakan platform blogspot milik Google. Setidaknya inilah yang aku tangkap dari penjelasan pengembang plugin ini, @howo dan @fredrikaa. Jadi, sebelum SteemPress hadir di blogspot, alangkah bagusnya kita menggunakan blog WordPress untuk mendapatkan kurasi dan upvote dari @steempress-io. Aku sangat menyarankan kepada para pengguna steemit untuk mulai membuat blog WordPress berbayar, dan agar blognya tidak tampak baru dibuat, cobalah mengekspor tulisan dari blogspot ke wordpress. Namun, jangan dulu menggunakan steempress kalau proses pemindahan konten blogspot ke wordpress belum selesai dilakukan. Sebab, ini sangat rentan dimasuki @cheetah dan mendapat downvote dari @steemcleaners.

Hal yang menggembirakan adalah, menggunakan steempress tidak mewajibkan kita menulis dalam bahasa inggris. "You can write in any language you want," tulis @howo dalam salah satu penjelasannya di Discord. Kita pun tidak diharuskan harus menggunakan tags steempress dalam setiap postingan. "Any tags are fine. We want people to be able to just post as they would normally do," sambungnya menjawab pertanyaan seorang steemian, apakah dalam setiap postingan harus mencantumkan tags steempress. Mereka memiliki tools tersendiri dalam menemukan konten yang diposting menggunakan SteemPress, bukan berdasarkan tags.

Jadi, jika seorang pengguna steemit menulis konten langsung di situs steemit.com atau menggunkan aplikasi pihak ketika seperti busy.org, esteem, atau partiko, dan menambahkan tags steempress, maka postingan tersebut tidak akan dihitung. Menurut para pengembang, hanya konten yang diposting melalui blog menggunakan plugin SteemPress yang akan mendapatkan kurasi dan upvote dari mereka.

Apakah satu blog bisa digunakan untuk beberapa akun steemit? Sebenarnya boleh saja, tapi sangat rentan kena flag. Salah satu tujuan hadirnya plugin SteemPress adalah untuk membantu para blogger yang bergabung dalam ekosistem Steem Blockchain mendapat benefit dan insentif secara adil. Ada yang bertanya kepadaku, apakah plugin SteemPress berpengaruh terhadap blog yang menggunakan Google Adsense? Sejauh ini, belum ada masalah. Soalnya, penggunaan plugin untuk blog WordPress merupakan hal yang biasa. Memang, Google Adsense memiliki aturan yang sangat ketat, dan melarang siapa pun menggunakan cara-cara curang dalam mendapat klik pada iklan Adsense yang dipasang. Plugin SteemPress jelas berbeda dengan aplikasi lain, karena SteemPress hanya membantu blogger mempublikasikan konten di blog secara otomatis ke Steem Blockchain. "It's not an issue," kata @howo menjawab keraguan para penayang Google Adsense.

Bagaimana dengan kecepatan blog setelah menggunakan plugin SteemPress? Seperti kita tahu, penggunakan plugin (yang cukup banyak) memang berpengaruh terhadap kecepatan loading sebuah blog. Apalagi untuk blog yang menggunakan hosting berkapasitas kecil dan memiliki bandwith yang terbatas. Sejauh blog Anda tidak menggunakan banyak plugin, aku pikir tak ada pengaruhnya pada kecepatan blog kalian.

Satu lagi hal yang paling banyak ditanyakan para pengguna SteemPress adalah soal pemotongan reward menggunakan plugin SteemPress. Berapa kira-kira SteemPress mengambil jatah dari reward yang diperoleh seorang pengguna steemit? Berdasarkan keterangan yang aku baca, pihak @steempress-io hanya mengambil sebesar 10 persen saja dari reward yang diperoleh seorang pengguna steemit. Jumlah pemotongan ini sama seperti kita menggunakan aplikasi @esteemApp yang juga mengambil 10 persen keuntungan. Namun, kalau dibandingkan dengan busy.org, utopian-io, dsound atau zappl, jumlah yang diambil oleh @steempress-io sebesar 10 persen termasuk kecil. Jumlah ini pun digunakan untuk terus mengembangkan Plugin SteemPress agar dapat terus digunakan oleh pengguna steemit.
