Power - Season 2 (Real-Time) Review - PART 2

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Here's the second part to my Real-Time review for Power's second season, it will be filled with spoilers! If you haven't read Part 1 you can read it here. So, without further ado, let's dive into this thing!

Episode 6 ''Why Her!?''

Holly finally tells Tommy that was taken in for questioning by the feds and reveals her plan to give them information on Ghost to get immunity for him. After that goes anything but well she asks Tommy who he chooses her or Ghost and he makes it pretty fucking clear that he chooses Ghost in a fairly dramatic ending to the episode.

Tasha tells Ghost to ''keep fucking that bitch'' in regard to Angie and it looks like that's what he's going to do. Tasha, in the next scene, finally decides to fuck Sean, the 6 foot twelve year-old, and we're subjected to another pointless sex scene. It feels like Tasha's had her tits out in every single episode at this point, which is great, but it seems to serve very little purpose to the narrative, most of the time at least.

50 Cent was again absent in this episode, which is a shame, but Marlo from The Wire makes another little appearance in their meeting of the bosses scene, I swear I remember that hanger from an old G-Unit music video! Tasha's mum slaps her in the face and Tasha's reaction felt very real, I was hoping she'd have slapped her back, her mum seems like a cunt and that's about it for this episode.

Episode 7 ''You're Not the Man''

Tommy, after all the Holly drama, is paranoid about everything and almost kills Angie until Tasha gets in his car out of nowhere and stops him upon Ghost's request, how she found him so quickly isn't important, she found him and stopped him and got him laid, that's the main thing! I loved the little moment he contemplates giving away the dog but quickly rethinks it and stops himself.

Angie, after having found Holly, now Monica, and being told that she made up all the stuff about Jamie being Ghost, still decides to tap his phone and continue having sex with him. Ghost approaches Stern's wife and gets her to help him regain ownership of his club, it doesn't take much for wives to turn against husbands or husbands to turn against wives I swear, there's no love here!

Ghost gets pissed off at Sean for obviously hiding something from him, always hanging up the phone when he approaches and such, and we find out that Sean is out of the loop as well, in regard to father 50, when he approaches Dre for info and receives none. I look forward to 50's return, he's like the Negan of Power! His presence creates high tension in a scene, they probably feel the need to dole it out in small doses.

Episode 8 ''Three Moves Ahead''

I'm starting to like Greg, he seems like a decent guy, deserves better than Angie, she's just using him. Also, every single time without fail when Angie's in her office having an epiphany about something Greg always walks by at just the right time for her to call him in and get him to do some shit, it's just very convenient!

50 Cent plots against Ghost and Tommy and convinces Ruiz and the rest of the bosses to join him in doing it. Sean, after being told by father 50 that it was Ghost who put him in jail, seemingly agrees to kill him. Why 50 didn't just bring this up to him sooner I don't know, shit's definitely going down at this point, everyone wants everyone else dead!

Both Lobos and Tommy get arrested but Ghost somehow manages to escape and is now aware of where he stands with Angie. Lobos was planning to kill Ghost and Tommy and Ghost was planning to kill Lobos, meanwhile no one is safe around 50 Cent, lots happening! It's definitely picked up the pace in the last few episodes, I look forward to finding out where this all leads.

Episode 9 ''Time's Up''

Damn! 50 Cent just shot his son in the fucked head! Sean is officially dead, definitely the biggest and most impactful death so far. As soon as the scene started it was painfully obvious what was about to happen but it still worked well, especially after his altercation with Ghost and how that went, I actually liked them both after that scene but damn! 50 is a cold mother fucker!

I'm starting to like Ghost, I don't know exactly how he put that connection together but he somehow did and it worked beautifully, it was nice watching Tommy walk out of that court grinning like that. It looks like Angie's done with Ghost though after that, it's her own fucking fault for cutting corners, not that I care either way I just have no sympathy for the woman, she's an idiot!

Tasha, despite being money obsessed, plans to run away with Sean which is obviously out of the window now but it's hard to have any sympathy for her either given her gold digger status. She's apparently skimmed 200 grand from the pot and according to her friend that won't even pay for her fucking shoes, fuck this woman, seriously, I am supposed to be rooting for her?

Episode 10 ''Ghost Is Dead''

This was a decent finale, Ghost's masterplan plays out very well, Stern's wife uses the information Ghost gave her to finalise her divorce profitably and sells his club back to him. Ghost kills his business partners and almost successfully has Lobos killed, he also sends Ruiz and his family out of town clearing Angie's name completely after her many fuck ups at work, forcing her to love him again.

Greg, after being unbelievably fucked over by Angie, turns up at her apartment and lets her know that taking her and Ghost down is his life's purpose now, kinda rooting for him! Holly returns out of nowhere and lets Tommy know that Ghost sent her away solidifying the end of their friendship. Lobos calls Tommy and offers him a partnership if he kills Ghost for him, and if he doesn't he'll kill Tommy and everything he loves, which includes the dog!

The fight between 50 and Ghost was extremely disappointing, it just felt poorly executed and very forced, Ghost has 50 at fucking gun point and due to talking somehow loses the high ground and then 50 has Ghost at fucking gun point and due to talking somehow loses the high ground, it was stupid! It was also obvious that 50 didn't die, painfully obvious and I rolled my eyes at that last little Marvel-esque teaser scene letting us know he was alive, as if we assumed he wasn't. I am glad 50's still alive though, he's one of the best characters.

If you read through all of that I thank you profusely and offer my sincerest apologies! I will, however, see you for the next one, there's four of these things to go and then I'll probably do a regular review for Power as a whole and rate it, until next time you beautiful Steemian bastards!
