Venezuela - Where Eagles Dare

A heavy standoff has ensured between the Military backed Maduro government and USAID over the distribution of critical relief materials to the citizens of Venezuela who have faced an economic meltdown fast evolving into a massive humanitarian crisis.

The Maduro government claims the distribution is politicized as the US has openly voiced their readiness to increase sanctions on the administration, aimed at forcing an internationally monitored elections.

Whatever the case, I believe the blockage by the military should be heavily frowned upon as calls for increased dissent gather momentum.

Maduro has enjoyed surprising militaristic support despite the harrows Venezuelans have endured over the last few years. There has been very few moves in protest against him, despite all the loud allegations of couples and murder attempts against him.

Why does this crucial arm of government still support him? Reports are that he has largely appointed loyalists in key positions as well as given increased economic and militaristic to them. This if true is likely one reason for the downturn Venezuelans have faced.

With the option of an external revolution highly unlikely, makes one wonder how this will all play out for Maduro and Venezuelan citizens.

Howdy there empress-eremmy! good to see you posting. That situation is such a mess over there and I think most people feel helpless in how to help the people there. It's getting worse every day just like the situation in Nicaragua.

Glad to see you posting again. So many come and go, and thought you had moved on as well.

I am ignorant on much of the world events now as I cut the cord from cable news and don't read pitched online articles. I get most of my knowledge here at Steemit, but I keep in mind many articles are slanted to reflect the script of one of the two parties. I appreciate that you only go as far as to ask questions here while highlighting opposing views, leaving it up to the reader to weigh out the dynamics and their implications. I remember when journalism used to do that.

Thanks a lot dear, I most certainly have not moved on from steemit.

I do have preconceived notions about the whole issue but I also realize that without full understanding comes the need for objectivety
