Steem home office??

in #blog5 years ago

When (not IF) platforms like Steem take off this will become more and more important. A lot of people will be able to support themselves by blogging so they will become "home office" users or digital nomads.

Working from home gives a lot of flexibility and is easier the commuting to an office in the city. More and more people are using this possibility and are setting up their office at home.
To combine efficiency and productivity you need some foresight and planning. So I figure I would share 10 tips that will make this move a bit easier and will help you maintain a healthy and productive space.

  • 1 Light

This is one of the most crucial things that people tend to ignore. If you can have daylight coming in on your desk is the ideal but this is not always possible. If you cannot achieve this then make sure there is enough lighting through a standing lamp or spot or desk light. Keep in mind that natural light improves productivity.

  • 2 Fast Internet.

Hiding away in a corner of the house/apartment with slow internet is very counterproductive these days. If you cannot get cable connection then at least make sure there is a wireless source nearby

  • 3 extra machines

We all would like to have a paperless office but sadly this is still hard to do. If you do need machines like scanner, printer then try to get a combination machine that will take less space and minimise clutter

  • 4 adjustable table

if you have the means then maybe get a table that allows to be easily adjusted in hight. That way multiple people can use the space and you can also switch from standing to sitting depending on the mood and what you are doing at any given time.

  • 5 ergonomic Chair

another point that is important if you are using your home office a lot is getting a good chair. Nothing is worse then back problems that can be easily avoided.

  • 6 Have room to work

on your desk/table it is wise to make sure that there is enough place to move. Having a good organisation helps efficiency

  • 7 get a plant

having some plants in the same room will help calm the nerves and will allow for a few minutes of switching off when you are taking care of them.

  • 8 boundries

make clear deals with your family or fellow housemates. The rules have to be clear on when you are working and that this is a time not to be disturbed or distracted

  • 9 time managment

It is very easy to get distracted so it might be good to set fixed working times for you just as you would do in an office.

  • 10 turn of email

checking and reading emails takes a big chunk of time and can work time consuming. So turn off the emails and only check them 3 times per day.

I hope these tips can help you along if you are working from home or make you relate to them.
Is there any tips that you would add or that your experience has thought you along the way?

yea, it should be one of a few possible flows of income for sure. I am looking in the same direction and exploring options

Funny thing is that I have been considering other ways of home business and didn't think they were sustainable enough, until I learned about Steem. Steem also provides more reliable and transparent source of self evaluation in the truest form I needed to see if I can actually blog and earn. I may actually improve faster if there is no SP limit.😅😅

yea, once you reach a minimum it does not really effect anything anymore...

gave you a full upvote, hope it helps a bit. Just keep on blogging, it will build up after a while

Thank you.

Hey great advice.

Says he working on his sofa.

Yet to unpack my office room after my recent move.
