Steem, are we ready to on-board more users yet?

in #blog5 years ago (edited)

At the time when the price of Steem reach its peak, we have also reached the most number of active users and engagement is everywhere. It was obvious that most of the users are motivated by the substantial reward that they are gaining for their acitivities within the blockchain.

As the price of Steem started to depriciate, majority of the active users has turn cold along with it. I honestly think they are missing a ton of opportunity.

The Steem blockchain is currently evolving for the greater good, despite its market price - which is undervalued IMO. In my 17 months of active participation in this network - I've never seen such increase in development and resolution to previous issues that users have been complaining about.

At first, Steemit is not really for everyone to begin with. There was a time when contents are only limited / are preferred to be crypto-related. Until things change and others started to popularize other types of contents like: photography, travel, food, and the normal social media contents.

When I joined this platform, I honestly think that it's intimidating. A full-length article and a community that scrutinize contents based on quality and relevance is somewhat intimidating to me. It's good that we had this kind of culture, however we can't remove the fact that it could also deter prospective users to join the platform knowing that they don't have the sufficient skill set to produce the kind of high quality contents that the community would want to reward.

Other conventional social media platforms are almost boundless or limitless when it comes to quality, plagiarism, and so on so forth. User on-boarding is easily done with few clicks and minimal verification requirement. On top of that, there were no expectations that the community will impose to you. Basically, it's easy and hassle free.

Until the Steem Dapps emerges (to the rescue) and they basically turn things around. It created more communities with a precise goal. The reward distribution is starting to be diverse among users regardless of their stake or reputation. The communities are focusing more on the content based on the clear guidelines that was set by the community itself.

If there is one thing that I think would help the Steem blockchain when it comes to User base, it has to be the on-boarding of new users and if I may add ~ a good interface that will offer a good experience to the users.

Most of the Steem DApps actually have the feature to create new accounts and reward the users based on their contributions.

Let's start promoting Steem and its Dapps across other social media platforms.

Our blockchain is great and its Dapps are awesome however, if we don't do our part in marketing it outside the platform it will stay hidden and the majority won't realize how amazing it is to be a Steemian.

Cheers!

And @photocircle is one good case study too! Pulling in creativity like arts and architecture to the platform is one way to diversify the audience group and make the platform more colorful and attractive. Is encouraging to see developers working on different Dapps and improving the current ones. Thus, staying on Steem is also my choice.

Yep, curation initiative are well and good, although it's really difficult to scale up compared to what an app can do.

I think Trips.teem, Dclick, Tasteem, Actifit, & Partiko did a good job on their interfaces and reward / referral system. We need more of them and more marketing effort outside Steem.

And yes, I think we made a good decision to stay and be active. 1 or 2 yrs from now, steem will have a different playing field and it's gonna be challenging especially for the ones that's starting over again.

Yup, there’s just so many good dapps coming up with their unique role in the ecosystem. Interesting to see how they grow and sustain. Found it amazing to be on Steem, looking at how it grows and evolve.

Good to hear about that. What do they feel about Steem so far?

They need more coaching, I just focus on the social media aspect as an alternative to fb twitter instagram. I promote @Partiko app for them to use.

Good suggestion, I also think that Partiko is the best option for FB users.

They still have a hard time understanding the concept of blockchain and cruptocurrency, so I just focused on the social aspect.

I think so too, blockchain & crypto is not easy to get a layman to understand it.

What do they think about rewards?
