My New Found Respect for Translators!

So for the past few weeks I have been very much immersed in the world of light novels.

After reading "The Rising of the Shield Hero" (Yep! that one with an anime version), I then moved on to "Tales of Demons and Gods" (which I just found out lately also has an animated version) then moved on to the one I am reading now called: "The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor".

Anyway, one thing I've noticed after reading around 15+ volumes of 'The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor' (which was translated by around 3-4 different translation groups) was how the translators are often underrated and unappreciated.

When I was reading 'Shield Hero' (Japanese) and 'Tales of Demons and Gods' (Chinese), I didn't really pay much to the translations as it was really done well but same cannot be said for 'Moonlight Sculptor'.

The first 20 volumes was really really good mostly because it was well translated by a group called 'japtem' but after that there was an obvious significant decline in the quality of the translated chapters.

It's not because of small typos (although there were a lot), nor the grammar but more like how the translators are structuring the sentences.

It's not like it's not understandable though but more like the fun and enjoyment the chapter gives is lost because of how it is translated.

So yeah! Having said all that and after witnessing a series being translated by 3-4 translation groups, I can now appreciate more and respect translators. XD

I thought before that it's enough as long as it's understandable but it is not!
