Jewelry Making Time

in #blog5 years ago (edited)

I purchased some sterling silver jewelry supplies in New York about a year ago when I was taking a metal smithing class. I was able to buy my supplies at a student rate because I purchased from a supplier that also sold to my teacher.

I learned how to make a simple ring with a cabachon stone in that class. I had to learn how to cut, grind down, solder and smooth my ring.

I really would like to take another class if I could fit it in my schedule.

I bought enough 18 gauge sterling silver to make several rings, but I have not been working with my jewelry lately. It takes a lot of time and concentration. As the weather turns colder, I will tend to focus more on indoor activities.

My friend bought a pair of sterling silver earrings in New York that were not cheap. I told her that I could make them very easily with supplies that I already had. She rolled her eyes at me at bought the earrings.

It’s a good thing that she went ahead and bought them rather than waiting for me to make her some. It takes me a while to stop and focus on jewelry.

In the meantime, I need to pack for Colorado this weekend. The jewelry making will have to wait.

I always wanted to learn to design and make jewelry, but never took the time to do so. What a wonderful hobby. I love your username on the bracelet.
