The ocean waters are moved by the wind on their surface and by movements within the ocean. These currents are able to transfer a great amount of heat around the Earth as they move and thus play a part in climate control. The spinning of the Earth dicates the way the water circulates. In the northern hemisphere it moves clockwise and in the sourthern hemisphere, anti-clockwise. Ocean currents vary in the summer and winter and a change in wind direction can change the current, influencing the weather in a particular country. Cold ocean current makes the weather colder and a warm one, warmer.
