My personal connection with Hitler...

in #blog6 years ago

I have a personal connection with Adolf Hitler... (well, a third party personal connection).

My Mum used to work for a couple when I was a kid, doing something something office work, something...

Anyway, one of her bosses was this guy, and she told him at some point how I was really interested in military history (I was around 11years old - ish, I think).

He was in a bomber crew during the second world war, and he got shot down over Germany, and then captured and thus became a prisoner of war.
He wasn't a very good at being a POW.

You could say he was an absolutely terrible POW. He kept escaping!
(this is a true story, btw, not from the film 'the great escape')

He was on his third escape attempt, and he got caught. He was a crap POW, and a not very good escapee either, by the sounds of things. Oh well.

Him and seven others found themselves lined up on a train station platform in Germany somewhere, with a really pissed off German SS officer.
The officer was organizing a firing squad for the escaped prisoners..

As the firing squad were forming up, a train pulled into the station. And guess who was on the train? (it's not hard if you consider the subject of this post).

Ole' Adolf Hitler, himself!

After talking to the SS officer, (who listened to Hitler, far more than he listened to the escaped prisoners) Adolf then proceeded to talk to the prisoners.

Yup, I've talked to someone who talked to Hitler! (what a bizarre claim to fame).

He told the SS officer to escort the prisoners back to the camp, telling him how it is the airmen's duty to escape, and should not be killed for doing their duty....

For the life of me, I can't imagine Stalin sayin' the same thing...(who, after WW2, tended to shoot any of HIS OWN men, who were prisoners , for getting caught...mmm)

Funny how you can see things differently, other than what our establishment historians tell us, isn't it?

In a lot of ways, Hitler was really like a drill Sgt with a little too much power, who started going off the rails.

Stalin's medals were also fake.

Hail Victory!

Establishment historians are the ones who need to be rounded up. ;)

Thanks for sharing this @lucylin.

Something similar here. From what I hear of my ancestry, relatives had disappeared under Stalin. Of these two, I would prefer... neither.
