Why we need to cheer the sex tourist.

It's all too easy to look down on the thousands of sex tourists that travel the world each year, and not delve deeper into an economic model that is a shining light into how things can be done, and should be done.

The very moral ambiguity and societal discomfort of the subject - sex for sale - has allowed a whole industry to stay away from control and taxes, to a very large degree anyway..

And this is why I'm defending it.

From a freedom perspective, from a 'real anarchy' perspective, and from a true free market perspective.

Leaving aside moral superiority and weak arguments aside, (for it's not worth broaching) the global sex tourist industry is a multi billion dollar industry.
And the supporting industries (hotels, airlines etc) all profit greatly.

It is wealth transfer as it should be.

Here are the top 10 destinations for sex tourism in the world.

1/ Thailand
2/ Brazil
3/ Spain
4/ Indonesia
5/ Columbia
6/ The Philippines
7/ Kenya
8/ Netherlands
9/ Cambodia
10/ Dominican republic.

...as you can see, 70% of these destinations are very poor countries.

Most clients involved in sex tourism are men of course but not all. Female sex tourism does exist but in smaller numbers.

It is predominately a male pursuit.
(just as there are male and female customers who purchase makeup - but it will always be a predominantly female pursuit).

Sex tourism is an industry worth billions of dollars, annually.

And this is my point.

While moral standpoints -and legal issues - muddy the waters of 'the oldest profession the world', it cannot logically be denied as one of the best ways for money to get to those poor families who need it.

There is no charity admin costs (or corruption) involved - or government taxes .
100% of the cash goes to the recipients. And in turn 100% of the wealth is distributed to the poorest elements of society.

This sounds like a very efficient and honest method of wealth transfer.

As is the case in free markets.

Using this as an example, you can see that by by- passing bureaucracies, maximum efficiency is obtained.

It is an age old working model of success - without corrupt bureaucracies or government theft (taxation).

The pampered decadent, will sip a latte in starbucks pontificating the moral issues.

Meanwhile, the sex tourist will be putting THOUSANDS of dollars into the pockets of those who need it the most.

The aroma coming from a pot full of food, will mean a lot more to the poor people in the world, than the empty steam emitted from the moral high round of the 'do gooders.'

An interesting post but I feel there are some aspects not fully thought out.
Sex work is indeed a huge industry where people can make good money which can be good for poor people, however money is not all. As sex work is illegal in most countries it makes a very dangerous work place, not to mention people being forced into the industry. Then due to the legality most sex workers will have to have a pimp to protect them but as it is an illegal profession the pimps will often be violent manipulative people.

Really I see the only safe way for sex work to take place is in place where it is legal like Amsterdam, because regulations may mean less money due to tax but it also means safety for all involved, from violence, theft, rape, STD's and so on.

Though I do not take part in sex work on either side I still think it should be something that is legal.

I'm sure they must exist - but after 20 year in 'the industry' and knowing countless hookers, literally - I've never met a pimp yet..

...rape, theft and rape are not laws that help to much in this business... (unless you have a policeman in each bedroom .lol)

I know her!

seems reasonable.

I would say that women do not go on vacation for sex, but include sex in their vacation. So says the men in destination where young women like to vacation.

But really, we have several different societal ideas clashing at this juncture.

Now is the fist time in history that we have so much abundance that single mothers can exist. Now is the first time in history where women have complete control over their reproduction (birth control pill).

From a community point of view, the best thing is for young women to partner with young men and start a family. Anything else actually destroys the woman for the mothering role. (if a woman has had more than 7 partners, her chances of being happy in a marriage are almost zero). And getting these young men married gets them working on building society. Having a family to support, focusses them and grounds them. Young unmarried men are much more prone to fights and destruction.

So, prostitution is really only against community, and those that remember the propaganda.

You cannot make a house wife out of a whore, nor can you make a whore out of a house wife.

In the end, we are left with a society that would rather sweep it all under the rug and allow children to grow up without fathers, just so they don't have to hear any bitching.

I would say that women do not go on vacation for sex, but include sex in their vacation.

I know of at least 3 women that go specifically to hire the boys..

So, prostitution is really only against community, and those that remember the propaganda.

Prostitution is a service to society - 80% of the guy's I know (when we were escorting in London for 4 years or so)) - went to hookers to avoid emotional commitment - they loved there spouses, and the service very possibly kept them together. Just different sexual needs..

You cannot make a house wife out of a whore, nor can you make a whore out of a house wife.

You obviously don't know many then, sorry - I know hundreds.
They are normal people, honest.

There is a reason it's the oldest proffession in the world. Some thing's never change..

A Big Issue is the UNDERAGE Sex Trade in ALL Those Countries. And what type of person- is either 1- so hard up they can't get laid in their own Country- that they have to travel to a foreign country to get sex?

or 2- what type of person is so OBSESSED with Sex being A CENTRAL FOCUS of their life- that they actually TRAVEL outside their country- specifically to have sex?

Either way I'm thinking their degenerates- not to mention 1 personally believe #3 is a big part of it- The UNDERAGE SEX TRADE-

Its their body- if two consenting adults wnat to participate in sex for money OK-

But what you have in a third world country- is a VERY POOR person- who has only 1 thing to sell- their body- sex. that is EXPLOITATION.

We also have People in India & Iran I believe selling their ORGANS & it is legal to do so int hose countries. A poor person selling their own kidney. Yes it's their choice & they get MONEY for it- Is that OK? Is that not an Extreme Form of Exploitation?

Is nothing sacrosanct? I think Morally both are wrong. I don't want to live in a society of people that Openly Accepts, Condones or Encourages this.

WHile I do not be prostitution should be ILLEGAL- Neither do i think it should Be Openly Accepted.
