In the previous article, we have discussed about the Rule of Thirds and Perspective, which are few of the topics that revolve around the concept of photographic composition.

In continuation of our learning about it, we will be talking about one of the word that a photographer usually say - "Angle".

At some point, you will hear people say - Oh, take a photo of me on my right, I look best on this angle.

So what are we really talking about when we use this word in photography?

Among all of the technical definitions of the word "angle" related to photography, we have distilled to this basic understanding; it is the position of the camera in relation to the subject of the frame.

Simply think of our eye level as the normal viewing angle and so when crouch down and look up to something on its own position, we are basically doing the "low angle shot".

Bring down your view even further down then it will give us the "worm's eye view".

In the same manner, if we raise our eye level higher, it will give us the "high angle shot". And then if we set it extremely higher then we get the "bird's eye view".

So, what we are essentially doing here is to try to look for more interesting views of the same subject and make each shot look great among the series of shots of the same object.

The idea is to explore the possibilities of the way we look at the subject. It is better to have more unique shots of the same thing so that we can have something to analyse, compare, and select the shots that we deemed to have the best look to it.

Aside from the understanding that "angle" is a way to position our view in relation to the subject, it can also be thought as a kind of mind set that will allow a photographer to explore beyond the standard procedure of shooting.

It's a way of telling a story, so instead of shooting a seascape at a usual wide angle shot, we could then look around and try to explore the sand itself - take a shot at a lower angle of it. Play around the aperture and experiment on the depth-of-field and focus of the shot.

Think of "angle" as a way to look at things at a different point-of-view and learn the best way to approach certain things at a different perspective.
