Let me start off by saying that I generally really like the products that Skratch Labs makes. As someone who both uses and sells sports nutrition for many applications, they really do a lot right. The shame is, they really screwed up on this bar, but to explain why, you need to be familiar with the "uncanny valley"

To anyone who does art, animation, or has a general familiarity with computers, you may well understand what this is. The general concept is that as a piece of art begins looking more lifelike, it will become more familiar too us. The notable exception is when someone is really close, but not quite. The resulting emotional response is generally a creepy factor. Like robots which try to look human, but just miss the mark, this bar is slightly off, but leaves a large negative impression.

Most sports bars are sweet, but savory is becoming more popular as people become less afraid of sodium (as long as you drink enough water, you are absolutely fine). The problem here is that the bar is trying to be simultaneously both, and really strikes you as confusing. Also the ginger is a lot more assertive than many other typical flavors of similar foods. Add that too the odd flavor of miso paste, and I honestly couldn't get a single bite down.

Verdict: Avoid at all costs
