Friday the 15th is the day.... We have made apointments with a lot of people who are going to build or reconstruct a piece of our house. It was quiet difficult to get everbody around the same time because everbody had busy agenda's, only the problem is that the current owners still live there and it is difficult to get the room for measurement of all stuff... By we've made it :)

The inside of the house need to be painted and perhaps plastered, that's still to be decided. But all the wooden window frames and indoor doors need a new paint. While the glas repairman comes along also the new placed window frames on the outside has to be painted. So we are still thinking of giving the complete outside too a new paint.

Because we want to only use electricity in our house and no gas anymore we have to renew the windows with H++ glas to get the house more well isolated.

The bathroom and toilet downstairs have to be renewed with a new shower, toilets etc. Last weekend we ordered new tiles for these two rooms. So that has to be done too :) And I can asure you, it's something I can't do myself.

Kitchen Installer

As you may have read in one of my previous posts we already bought a new kitchen. The kitchencompany will install the kitchen but before that the plumber has to (just as in the bathroom) rearrange the pipes. Also the kitchen runs on full electric.

We have chosen for a wooden floor in a fishbone format with on the side a black strip. Our good friend Ronnie (who owns a floorshop) will install the floor for us.

In our current house we've just installed (half a year ago) solar panels on the roof. Besides the environmental pro's it's also interesting for saving power for home use so I will save money. Because of the fact we will be gasless we are going to use a lot of more electricity, therefor we are installing 36 solarpanels on the roof. With that we are self-sufficient even with a heatpump.
The heatpump is also going to be installed by a installer.

Carpenters

On the atic we are placing two Dormer for the new room of our oldest sun. This has to be placed by a carpenter(s). They are comming too to measure the roof and the room. When they have made a technical drawing we have to send that to the local government for a permit to build.

There is no direct stairs to the atic now, there is this loft ladder which you have to pull down. When we place the dormers it will be a full size room so we sacrificing one room on the second level for a direct stairs. That room will also being used to store our clothes in a closet.

I also need the carpenters to (help me) build my "Ski hut", or our (me and my sons) mancave. I tried to draw one in a 3d program but the middle wall is to far on the right. The inside should be a bit bigger than the outside. But I am really looking forward to have my first beer there :)

So a you can see, plenty work to do and a lot of planning challenges :) But we are so ready for it and looking forward to it....

Have a great day

Very nice and very exciting! I bet you guys are eager to just be in and have it all over with. Why are you going gasless? Here in the states the price is about the same. I really enjoy having my gas furnace. Especially in the Winter when my electric bill is $140 per month and my parents is $500 per month because they are electric baseboard heat with no gas. Just curious.

Very exciting indeed...can't wait to move in :) We are going gasless because of environmental development. In Holland the gasprice is raising rapidly. Electricty is cheaper when using the right gear. For instance the heatpump uses about 4000KWH a year on electricity, the solar panels we are installing creates about 8800KWH a year, so with our other electricity consumption we don't pay a thing for electricty and are self providing. In holland you pay for the gas but also for the connection to the gasnetwork. So even if we won;t use any gas but the connection remains, we have to pay about 350$ a year. So we remove the connection and save another 350$ a year :)

Okay, makes sense, I was just curious. I wondered if it was just more expensive over there. Now I know!

Gas is about 70 euro-cent a M3 and electricity about 21 euro-cent a KWh. The great thing, as long as it last, is that when you produce more solarpower then you use, you can deliver back to the net for the same price..

Very cool!
