Hello guys, what's up, what's up!?

You might be wondering why this post is a bit odd. If you noticed for the past weeks, I have been sharing a series of good old history stuff. I find it very entertaining and timely as well knowing that most of these stories are rotting and forgotten.

Most of our tools resides mostly in blogging platforms, softwares and even on SEO strategies. However, there are a few basic essentials that no blogger can overlook.Hardware and services make up a number these blogger must-haves.

Just as journalists needs a basic toolkit, so too does a blogger. Below is a guide for suggested tools a blogger must consider to level up his or her game.

Photography Needs

We all know that smartphones are really powerful and can do a lot of stuff. Aside from our smartphones, the tools below are a good addition to your tool bag.

  • Point and Shoot

A good compact digicam is always a nice addition to any blogger's tool bag. There are a number of great models on the market that make quality images for a blogger's posts. Most compact cameras today also capture decent video and audio suitable for web use.

A digital point-and-shoot is also less conspicuous, allowing bloggers to capture shots without much notice and can act as a visual sketch pad for a blogger's posts.

  • Digital SLR

A digital SLR is a must if bloggers begin to incorporate images on a regular basis or intend to start a photo blog. The benefit of most DSLRs are superior image quality, more options and control for the advanced photographer. They do cost more however, and bloggers will have to invest in lenses.

Tip: Just don't worry because entry-level and prosumer DSLRs have improved in the last few years and some come with a decent kit lens.

  • Drones

This one is really not a must-have but if you're budget is more than enough, this is really a good addition to your arsenal. You will have an extra bag for this one though but surely, having a drone will totally change the game.

  • Web Camera

In case a blogger's computer doesn't come equipped with a webcam, an external web camera (and a decent mic) might come in handy. Bloggers might want to start adding webcasts to their content and a decent webcam often trumps one on the laptop.

One tip: Just make sure to be in a quiet environment. Webcasts are like any other movie or audio slideshow; poor audio will kill it.

Computing Basics

  • Notebooks or Laptops

A must for many bloggers on the go, especially when they hit up the local WiFi hotspots (cafes, libraries, etc). Whether a blogger wants to get out of the house or is in the field, a portable computer is a necessity.

Laptops and netbooks have come a long way in price and processing power and there is plenty of alternatives to expensive software.

  • Desktop

A desktop computer is always a good option for us bloggers who prefer the comfort of a home office or workspace. Since desktops generally have more processing horsepower than a netbook or laptop, they're also ideal for heavy digital photo workflow and advanced website and blog maintenance.

Bloggers might be more comfortable keeping archives on desktop computers and they offer more flexibility in the software used.

Back-up and Portable Storage

  • Flash Drives

Perfect for bloggers who might want to transfer files from a laptop and head down to an Internet cafe without the effort of lugging it around. Thumb drives are cheap and inexpensive to replace and many have a large storage capacity to serve a blogger's needs.

  • Portable Hard Drives

These can become live savers, allowing a blogger to back up data if she is on the road. They can also allow a blogger to store digital photos and video and free up space on a laptop or netbook's hard drive. While they are not as portable as thumb drives, many portable hard drives allow for greater storage capacity than a thumb drive.

That's it guys.

These tools are just a few items that bloggers might find useful. A blogger's tool bag vary depending on their audience and the topic in which they blog, but these are a good foundation on which to build upon.
