Like it or Not - The Journey is the Reward

When we were kids we were made to believe that we can become anything that we want to believe, that the sky is not our limit. As long we truly wanted it in the depth of our hearts, and have faith, it will come to us. We were told all sorts of things to make us believe in ourselves, which is, by all means, a very good thing. But they never really prepare us to face the reality of what life will throw at us as we start getting older. No one told us about the importance of graduating top of your class at an early age, no one thought us of how to write a proper CV to aid our job hunt. Although some were lucky enough to have great guardians that helped them in these processes, many didn't have that privilege.

No one certainly told us about peer-pressure, getting a good job, the societal pressure to get married once you are of a certain age. The truth is, no one is prepared enough for the challenges of life, regardless of how well positioned you think you are. In my quest for personal enlightenment and knowledge, I often find myself wanted to get words of wisdom from the men I admire, words in for, of nuggets of wisdom.

None has ever hit me like this one - “The Journey is the Reward” And these are the reasons why

You don’t Plan For the Journey

When you set a personal goal, for instance, you set out to lose weight, or increase the revenue of your business to $1M. Now what you have written down is the end result, and probably a plan or strategy to achieving the set goal, the series of events that will lead to the achievement of that goal is somewhat unclear, but you set out anyways, and the get the job done.

At the end of the day, if you end up achieving that goal you set out to achieve in the first place, this comes with a lot of celebrations and accolades. But the journey that leads to that victory is one of the massive rewards because that is the bane of the success story “How did you do it?”

During the journey, that is when you build character, that is when you discover parts of yourself you never thought existed; that is when you are faced with your worst fears. And in this times of pressure and hardship, that is when the real you comes out, And at the end of the day, you will become battle harden and tested.

Something Never to Forget

After achieving your goals of hitting $1M in profit, or after successfully losing 250 LBS, what people will hope to hear from you is “How you did it” that is when the story of your journey comes in. We are human, and we connect more with people that understand our position and needs. So, while you sit down to educate those young entrepreneurs hoping to scale their individual businesses to the moon, what they will be willing to listen to, is how they will be able to navigate through tough life terrains of the country while making intelligent business decisions.

At the end of the day, the process of journeying from where you were, to where you want to be, is a memorable period of a man’s life, veto intimate and cordial relationship. No matter where you go, you must come back here.

Only one thing is sure

The only thing that can be guaranteed in this life that we are living is that; everyone has their journey to walk, and their own individual race to run. And that is important to mingle with people are running that same of a similar race to yourself. Remember, we are the average of the 5 top people we spend most our time with, so it is very important we choose our friends carefully.

So, if your goal is to become an astronaut, or a biologist, or a physicist, or a Doctor, do well by your parents but the road leading to their futures
