Clients Expectations.

Defining Contract Limitations.

This week we cancelled a rather large contract with a client (It was mutually agreed.) The deal was to manage three brands for a client that was sub-contracted to ourselves, two for twelve months and one for six months.

This was for over two and a half thousand pounds, however we soon were made aware why this particular client had sub-contracted out to ourselves, as their expectations were somewhat intensive compared to our usual services and would've meant almost three (if not more) times the work involved.

Although we do offer such services as a more integrated social media management, for the price it would mean we would be losing money compared to the same amount of work but for more clients.

The lesson learned is that you must define what you will do and what you don't do, what the limitations are when it comes to working with a client. Unfortunately this had all been done over the phone, and even though follow up emails had been put in place, they wanted so much more. So, if you are taking on a client, be very sure of what you are offering and for the price meets their expectations.

Thanks for reading.

Managing expectations seems to be a growing need in all human interaction. We rarely listen and often assume. One of my dad's favourite sayings: When I ASSUME, I make an ASS out of U and ME. Great read as always @socialmediaseo
