Sheriff of Nottingham

Sheriff of Nottingham is a fun game that consists of trading, bartering, and bluffing.

The goal of the game is to sell as many goods as you can, and sometimes sell more than you actually own. As long as you can fool the sheriff.

Each player takes turns being the Sheriff, and each turn the players put some of their goods into a sealed bag and hand it to the Sheriff disclosing how many of what goods they are selling. The sheriff will then decide who he believes is bluffing and enforce a tax by opening up the pouch and verifying the goods.

If you are caught trying to sell contraband you will pay dearly for it. The rewards for sneaking some contraband into your pouch is very high, so it is worth taking a chance once and a while. But do it when the sheriff isn't looking!

Before the sheriff opens your pouch, you can try to bribe him. Like any government official, this is very effective at getting your own way. If you are clever, you can set him up by using a small bribe to get his attention and think you are cheating but not paying enough for the privilege. If he opens your pouch and you are not cheating, he pays dearly.

The average game is about an hour and is designed for 3 or more players. While the game says it recommends players 14 and up, it is easily played with much younger kids. It does require some focus and maturity, so keep that in mind.

The game is of course available on Amazon for $23.99 shipped.
