Hello Steemit, how are you to day?
In this article, I will explore what meditation is, how meditation can increase concentration, and how to do it.

Anyway, before stepping into the subject matter, I need to emphasize that my explanation above about the serious impact of information technology is not intended to discredit it and persuade you to stop using it completely. Precisely, with this writing, I hope that you, and also me, can fully utilize information technology.

Okay, then, let's just look at this article entirely.

What Is Meditation?

I am sure, you are quite familiar with the term meditation. I also bet, when I hear this term, your brain directly associates it with certain beliefs and religions.

Well, today, meditation has a common meaning. Meditation is not always synonymous with belief. Meditation can be done without religious content that might be different from what you believe.

So, you don't need to worry about meditation destroying your faith or belief. This is understandable given that the essence of meditation (in general terms) is eliminating the mind from prejudices; neutralize the mind from biased perception.

Maybe, you will ask, "How can you neutralize the mind from perceptions? Doesn't that mean we don't think at all? How come?"

That is also what used to be my question when I didn't know the meditation of the goods in the slightest. But, after getting a little information about meditation, I also knew that it turned out that, by focusing the mind on the breath, or on other things, the mind could be completely neutral. What we do is not think of our breath, but feel that breath.

Meditation and Concentration

What do we do when meditating? Do you concentrate fully on one thing? Hmmm, if so, I'm sure, not long after meditation starts, the head feels dizzy. If you don't believe, try concentrating on one thing or the point in front of you. Look closely at that point and wait for what will happen.

The question is now, why when concentrating on certain things our heads get dizzy? This is because, we force the brain to focus on only that point, whereas naturally, the mind always travels from one thing to another.

Meditation is not the same as concentration. It is often understood that concentration is what we do when meditating. In fact, what happens is the opposite, we meditate so we can concentrate. Meditation is one way to concentrate, not vice versa.

In connection with meditation, at least, there are 4 levels of mind activity that we can know that are ordinary thinking, logical thinking, concentration, and meditation.

When we think of many things, such as while relaxing at home, the activity of our mind is called ordinary thinking. What we think when thinking ordinary is not things that are related to one another. We are thinking about children, suddenly remembering office matters. Then, there is an event that takes our attention.

Unlike the case with ordinary thinking, logical thinking means we think about things that have relevance between one another. For example, when we are working on math problems.

Well, if logical thinking is a mind activity that involves many things, then concentrating only involves one thing. We don't allow the brain to think about other things. We focus on only one point in a certain period of time. In fact, as mentioned earlier, naturally, our mind is always hovering, thinking about many things.

Finally, meditation. Unlike the previous three mental activities, meditation means not thinking about anything at all!

How to Do Meditation

Now, after you know that meditation is a mind activity where the brain doesn't think about anything at all, is there a question that gets stuck in your heart?

You might ask, "How do you do it?"

In a book entitled The Practicing Mind: Developing Focus and Discipline in Your Life, Thomas Sterner explains that the conditions of meditation are actually often experienced when we are dissolved in an activity. When playing video games, when you first learn to drive a car, or when walking on a narrow road on the right side of the car, we experience a meditation condition. We don't think about anything other than doing the activity (playing video games, driving a car, or walking on a cliff) until it's done. For a second, our thoughts float on other things, so we can hit people, or fall into a ravine.

Well, that's why, don't worry you can't do meditation because by accident, you often do it.

Now, how to do it intentionally?

• Set time each day to meditate. You can spend 20-30 minutes doing it.
• Sit in a quiet place so that no one is bothering
You can sit in the usual position like sitting in a chair
• Clear all thoughts and prejudices. Let everything flow as is
• After adjusting the sitting position, pay attention to one point in front of you, no need to concentrate on that point

• Take a deep breath
• Close your eyes
• Pay attention to your breathing flow. This means feeling it, not thinking about it.
• Continue to feel the flow of your breath. if your mind starts to hover, realize it and pull it back to your breath.
• Enjoy the continuous flow of your breath until you are completely dissolved in it.

Now, there are a number of steps you can take while meditating. What needs to be noticed, the depth of meditation can be known from your breath. If your breathing gets slower, then it's a sign that you are entering a deep level of meditation.

To find out the flow of your breath while meditating, ask the partner to examine it.

By getting used to doing meditation every day, you will be easier to concentrate. The mind is not easily distracted by things around you.

In turn, with high concentration, you can focus on information that is your priority and set aside others for a while. Thus, you get in-depth information. This means that you have made full use of information technology.

Now, are you ready to start meditation?

Thank You for Reading.

Hopely useful.
