Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey by Chuck Palahniuk

Chuck Palahniuk really throws you into a wild tale, pretty much right off the bat with this one. From the author who brought us Haunted and Fight Club, you should expect nothing less. He is wildly gifted in creating dynamic, dangerous little universes that are utterly believable with your nose between the pages, but examined like a hysteric nightmare after you’ve finished reading.

Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey is certainly the stuff of nightmares. Intentional car crashes, lethal epidemics, dystopia, and the underbelly of the night. I really don’t want to give any hints as to what this book is about other than that, it will have to strangely unravel for each reader as it should. This is in part a time travel book, in part a treasure hunt story, and a shapeshifting adrenaline rush through and through.

Arachnophobes, beware. This book details an insane man repeatedly being bitten by spiders (and snakes and rabid animals). But for those with a tough stomach, this strange, smart book is a real adventure, one I highly recommend. Just be sure to buckle up before you take this ride.
