Jurassic Park, Michael Crichton. Advance Reader's Edition.

This one needs no introduction. Anyone with a passing familiarity with American popular culture has either seen or read Jurassic Park, and there is no end in sight for the franchise. The first film was the best, in my opinion, and is based on Michael Crichton's book. Crichton (1942-2008) was a great writer (think Dan Brown, but way more refined), who wrote in the science fiction, thriller and medical fiction genres. His novels explore human's interactions with technology, and have a strong scientific and medical underpinning, reflecting his background as a doctor.

Jurassic Park originally began as a screenplay Crichton wrote in 1983, about a graduate student that recreates a dinosaur from DNA. As he thought about it he realized that, given how expensive genetic engineering is and since "there is no pressing need to create a dinosaur", the experiment would be a result of a company's desire to entertain. This is what led to the novel, which was published in 1990. This is the Advance Reader's Edition, which was sent to critics prior to the first edition for review and, as such, is very scarce:

I have read the book already twice now and I keep getting excited about characters standing eye to eye with those ferocious creatures and I can feel the disgust when the traitor feels his warm intestines in his hand while he lays blinded on the ground...

Do you know if this version varies strongly with the later publications? I wonder what they would have changed :D

Hey there! I'm pretty sure this version is an identical to the later printings, aside from a few grammatical errors and misspellings that would have been corrected.

Interesting! Learn something new everyday. I used to have an advanced reading copy of the book, Survivor, by Chuck Palahniuk.

What rare non-fiction books do you have?

Nice! I have a fairly limited selection of non-fiction books. My current inventory for sale is listed at https://www.ebay.com/str/therarebooksleuth

DUDE! You have some nice books! That rare 1st edition 1st printing of "Be Here Now" by Ram Das got my attention. That and that signed Hunter S. Thompson book. Wish I had money LOL.
