Greatest clips in music history | The Prodigy "Smack My Bitch Up", 1997
In the late eighties, the guys from Ultramagnetic MCmagnetics didn’t even think that a decade later their phrase "Change my pitch up / Smack my bitch up" would bring The Prodigy millions of pounds to British electronic engineers. The result was a memorable concise track. The video, shot by the Swede Jonas Åkerlund, began to live a separate scandalous life: the full version was banned on many music channels. Feminists criticized The Prodigy for misogyny and encouraging violence against women (although the sly Åkerlund covered his ass with the fact that at the end of the clip, the main character of the clip turns out to be a heroine).
The video was still called shocking for a long time, although now, 20 years later, it is a bit strange to understand that in the most scandalous video of that time, they simply vomit a lot, sniff a bit, paw people and give eggs a couple of times. Now, in 2018, we saw things worse.
