Boulder Sunday hosted by @shasta - Muang Sing (Lion City) Historical Park !!
On my last visit down the south of Thailand we ended up at Muang Sing (Lion City) Historical Park in Kanchanaburi were we saw the remains of an ancient city that dates back to the 13th and 14th centuries.
The Muang Sing (Lion City) was built in Khmer style with large boulders cut into square shapes to build the walls to defend the city against attacks by the Burmese army.
The old ancient city is still beautifully preserved with lots of lush green grass surrounding the old city and lovely Banyan trees that still make the old city look very real.
Walking around the ancient city looking at all these dark burnt rusty looking boulders felt like you were in an oven with the heat coming in from all around you but despite the heat we wandered around, in awe of the grandeur of the place it was so peaceful and quiet as we were the only ones there.
Can you image how many man hours when into cutting them huge boulders down into square shapes and then lifting them into place no cranes or stone cutting machines in the 13th or 14th centuries.
Being away from the big city of Bangkok with all the hustle and bustle i was really appreciated the stillness of the countryside and the ability to listen to the wind and birds.
There were also temple that were built in the ground of this ancient city and the main temple that partially still stands in the center of this complex was built between the 12th and 14th century in Bayon style, named after the Bayon temple in Angkor that was built around the same time.
It was certainly worth the visit to the Muang Sing Historical Park it's the perfect place to learn about those long gone days and it has beautiful landscape covered with trees and flowers to mark you feel you are in a lost temple of the jungle. It's just over a 2 hour drive from Bangkok city or you can take a train down to the ancient city.

Thank you @shasta one of my favorite things here in Thailand is visiting old ancient cities just looking at them can tell you how hard they were to build with no modern equipment just hammer and chisel them days and how many lives were probably lost in the process but amazing work of art :)
wow sir hangin, super interesting post with such great scenes of history, ancient history!
Thank you sir janton i love visiting places like this i always try and image myself been there in them times :)
I don't know sir hangin, those times sound dangerous to me. Well, I guess it wouldn't be for the Vin, they would think he was a God or something!
Yep like the movie Troy i would have the long blonde hair in dreadlocks :)
No way! you had dreadlocks??
Well the dreadlocks were made up but my curls at a younger age were real :)
Here's a photo from a movie scene i was in when i was working part time in the market produce early morning before school. You can still see it on youtube "Out they Go"
