Big stone grandmother |

in #bouldersunday5 years ago (edited)

Today I will tell you about the "Big stone grandmother", or in Khakass "Ulug Hurtuyah TAS". This is one of the most sacred stone statues of Khakassia. There is a stone "old woman" in a hexagonal glass Yurt near Ankhaks, on 113 km of the road Abakan – AK-Dovurak.

The age of the stone sculpture inspires respect, it is about five thousand years old, was created in the heyday of Okunev Culture, at the turn of the third and second Millennium BC.

Times and peoples changed, but this stone idol remained the patron of women and children. Even now, in the 21st century, the Khakas come to Hurtuyah TAS, fed her yogurt and sour cream and ask you to send them children.

In gratitude for the request people give "stone old woman" children's toys and dairy products. There are always cars and visitors near the pavilion where Ulug Hurtuyah TAS is located.

This is my entry today to #BoulderSunday created by @shasta.

What an interesting piece, @irvet. Looks like it has been there forever.

Thanks for sharing these cool photos!

I liked that post of yours, I have never heard of the "Okunev Culture", but am going to be looking it up on google. That is one of the nice things about steem and the more social tags such as #bouldersunday, we get to look into other peoples backyards as they search for a boulder, and maybe learn a little bit about each other through the eyes of a normal everyday citizen.

@bashadow, "Okunevskaya culture" is an archaeological culture of southern Siberia, which existed at the turn of the third and second millennia BC. From it there were original stone monuments and fantastic drawings.

I just think it is so amazing that we have a place on the internet that people from all over the world can really share their backyard and country views. I know facebook and youtube are really big, but the owners of that control who gets to see what, here on steem blockchain there is no one pushing buttons and saying you can only see this unless you really dig deep. I enjoy perusing the #bouldersunday tag, and few more of the social tags. It is through them that I see some of the nicest post available on the steem blockchain. No algorithm telling me here look at this post or that post they fit your likes and dislikes as we see fit. I get to look at all the people that post on the tags I like, I think that is great.

@bashadow, you are right, on steem blockchain you can watch what we like without Intrusive imposition.

Big stone grandmother is so awesome to see! Where else could
we see such wonders like @bashadow said! Steem is great for
seeing things you don't see anywhere else. I've looked at many
rocks in my lifetime and have not seen these till now in your
postings. I subbed to your youtube channel also, looks like
lots of goodies to view! I wonder which direction she faces?
I really like learning about the past, present and future!
Thank you very much for posting these fantastic boulders!

Вig stone grandmother faces East.
