🔩Jose Merciless Benavidez Jr🔩

The dream that almost went undreamt

Jose Benavidez's dream of getting a world title shot almost went unfulfilled, due to the fighter being shot in the leg in August of 2016. The injury was almost career ending and doctors told him he would never fight again. But since that fateful night, after an almost two year layoff in which he showed true grit, Jose has made a full recovery, and has since claimed two victories and sealed a deal to fight WBO world champion Terence Crawford.

Terence Crawford, is himself no stranger to gun violence, having survived a near fatal gun shot wound to the head back in 2008. The incident changed his life for the better, directing him away from the streets and projecting him towards the stars and up the pound for pound list. Mega fights loom in the not too far off distant future, as the division is jam packed with talented individuals and huge names, Keith Thurman, Errol Spence Jr and Danny Garcia, to name a few.

The upcoming bout which will take place at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska makes for a very interesting match-up, both fighters are blessed with boxing skill in abundance and can keep the fight at a distance if they choose to, but both fighters equally enjoy fighting and enjoy inflicting pain on their opponents, and given the dislike that they and their camps have displayed towards each other in the build up to the fight it could well turn into a slugfest.

This should be a difficult fight, but in the end I think BUD will keep his 0 and inflicit Benavidez Jr's first ever professional defeat, but this will not be the last we hear from Benavidez Jr, who, I believe will come again, and will one day become a world champion himself.

The referee is ready, the judges are ready, and the fighters are in the ring... and now fight fans....
