VISIBILITY : A Winning Strategy

You have knowledge of what can be economically viable

Just name it... But your energy is waning simply because you are not scaling or because you are not gaining the necessary attention you so much desire. You are quite sophisticated and have spent a lot of time to acquire skills and experience ; more like fully loaded. The cause may not be far from what I have to share with us, VISIBILITY

To major in minor things should not be your style, but sometimes these minor things matter the most especially when it could be deployed as a strategy. Hence the topic 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻

What is Visibility?

Visibility is the state of being able to see or be seen, or the degree to which something has attracted general attention; prominence. (Wikipedia)

What is Strategy?

Strategy is a plan of action designed to achieve a long-term or overall aim strategy (Wikipedia)

Strategy is a method or plan chosen to bring about a desired future, such as achievement of a goal or solution to a problem.

Before I proceed, I want you to be aware that this session will make sense to you only if you've got stuffs or you have maybe a project, design, idea, concept that you want to bring to the open.

I have come up with a theory that VISIBILITY is a Winning Strategy. you may want to ask the simple question, "How do I become visible?" I'll briefly summarize a few points on how to enhance visibility

¶ BE A NICHE... Go Niche

It is imperative that I stress here that the future will favor Niches... You may be wondering what it means to being a Niche. going niche simply means becoming very specific. For example, if you are a writer, you need to understand that writing is very broad and if you don't have a specific area of focus, you will be missing in the ocean of writers. So if you are very good with romantic poems, focus on it and develop it, sooner than later you will get noticed as a romantic poet

When you hear BellaNaija, Cars45, Techpoint, LindaIkeji blog etc you already know specifically what we find there... So anytime you find yourself in your Fashion designers shop or you want to get a cozy fashion style for your big engagement ceremony, the first blog that pops up on your mind is BellaNaija... Why? Because they are specific

¶ Transplantation

I decided to use this word because it captures what I have in mind perfectly. From basic Agricultural Science, we were made to understand that ...Transplanting is the technique of moving a plant from one location to another. Most often this takes the form of starting a plant from seed in optimal conditions, such as in a greenhouse or protected nursery bed, then replanting it in another, usually outdoor, growing location

This applies to Ideas too. Because ideas are like seeds that needs to be nurtured and developed in the mind (ideation) then on paper (prototype) then developed into a plan ( Proposal) before running a proof of concept... In the process of transplanting this idea that was compared to a seed, you will be getting noticed and Visibility will increase. A better or bigger platform /location/group will also increase visibility

¶ Operation Renewal

The problem of poor visibility is not only peculiar to small businesses or startups or you that is having a concept. Big organizations sometimes gets lost in the cloud of business too. They may be doing the right thing but somehow people do not notice them anymore... Just like Stephen Elop (former CEO of Nokia) said "We didn't do anything wrong but somehow we lost", you remember Yahoo too and several other big brands. But let me use Wema Bank as an example because we can all relate to it. Wema bank somehow got lost in the clouds of Nigeria commercial Bank for a long while and become a salary bank not until very recently they renewed their operation and this included digital banking. They lunched ALAT and before you know it they started to get lots of customers even amongst young people... They became visible again because of operation Renewal.

¶ Focus on PRODUCT over BRANDING

Branding is good. Infact It cannot be taken for granted. But do you think branding should be the first thing when you don't even have the capacity to deal with the attention it attracts yet? I need to stress this to small business starters or those that have a project they are trying to establish... The noise(Social media campaign) will do you no favor if you are yet to have a very good product. You may get noticed and after people patronize YOU or come to you after announcing your project, then they stop coming because you offered them trash, which means that there is no substance in your products or services... Trust me, having a great product will increase Visibility

Why do you think some people trace some hot amala spots or mama put joints no matter the hidden location anywhere? Because they have very good food. Infact your satisfied customers will increase your visibility through referrals

¶ Market Stimulation

This is a Visibility strategy that has its root in business psychology and a branch in psychology of addiction. Free gifts or bonuses have a way of making a new product visible. Shortly after I came from church today, my neighbour who plays online bet was telling me that he prefers I think KingBet (A new Online betting platform) over Bet9ja (A more established online betting platform). I was thinking because JayJay Okocha is their brand Ambassador but he said because the bonuses was more than Bet9ja... I was like whaooo Market Stimulation.

for those who browse heavily in Lagos or other Metropolitan cities in Nigeria, you may have noticed one new ISP (Internet Service Provider) named NTEL they are new in Lagos here but they are becoming visible. Why? They are not really different from the popular Spectranet or Smile but they seem to be getting increased patronage because of the high data bonuses they give new customers in the first month Over 20gb for just #2,000 on 4g devices

Visibility is enhanced when you offer some of your products or services for free to prospective customers. When they consume your products or contents and they're satisfied with your services, they will surely come with other. A perfumed liquid soap manufacturer can budget an amount to make some perfumed liquid and distribute to women in church... When they use it, they will come buying.

¶ INTEGRATION

I'll summarize this because it is mainly used by big organizations. Although, small businesses can adopt this strategy. Sometimes your products don't get to be noticed because of the competition in the market or because there are lots of similar products or services out there... What many big organizations who have divers products or services does is to study the market and notice a smaller organization that is focused only on that specific product or services that they seem not to be getting enough visibility from and then acquire them. Upon acquisition they may now change the brand name to theirs and thus they become more visible

¶ LEVERAGE on Technology

I decided to make this the last point for tonight because we are all aware of how technology can improve visibility. You are not visible enough maybe because you don't know how to deploy the right tools and means to enhance visibility. No matter what you do, Information technology can announce your local idea, concept, products or solutions globally. You just need to deploy the right means. A good stuff need not be kept in the cooler because someone somewhere in the globe may be in serious need for this and doing a good job d social media ad or making yourself visible through a website, blog, forums and related channels may just be the answer to all of your worries.

Try to make yourself more visible using these strategies... You will be happy you did
