Organizational Competency Mapping
Competence Mapping Methods
Workforce Skills Analysis: Skill analysis describe the skills required in carrying out a function. It helps the employer identify the skills the existing workforce already possess and how to maximize or harness them to benefit the organization. This is usually very useful in the recruitment and hiring processes.
Job Analysis: It focuses on deciphering the duties, functions, knowledge and skills necessary for the successful execution of each specific job.
Supply and Demand Analysis: Supply analysis focuses on analyzing the work force demography, occupations, grades, structure, race, origin, gender, age and present work force competence. Demand analysis is used for forecasting. That is, pinpointing the future workforce needs in line with the vision, mission, objectives, goals and strategies of an organisation.
Gap Analysis: It is done through solution analysis, taking into account both ongoing and planned changes in the work force. A skills gap is the difference between skills that employers needs and the skills their workforce already posses. The outcome of a workforce skill gap analysis helps to determine your training needs as well as if further recruitment would be necessary.
Situation Analysis: This is series of process whereby the business analyzes both their internal and external business environment in a bid to determine their own capacity and capabilities as well as their prospective clients and potential customers.
