Bozz Eats: Vegas Edition II

If you missed it, you should really go back and take a look at my first post in this series:

Vegas certainly doesn't suffer from a shortage of great places to eat as I said though, they can often come at a price.

On Sunday during our trip, @mrsbozz and I decided to rent a car and do some sight seeing outside of the city. I will be writing a dedicated post about that later this week.

That same evening we found ourselves leaving The Paris and heading back down Las Vegas Boulevard towards our hotel. Having never been to the Venetian before we decided to duck inside and check things out.

Our late lunch of Raising Cane's was wearing off and we were starting to get hungry as well. After a quick walk around the building we decided to stop at Black Tap.

There were so many great things on the menu that I wanted to try, but I ended up getting the "wings".

They had a fantastic flavor with a gentle sweetness and just a touch of heat. The thing that really made them awesome though was the ranch dressing. You could tell it was homemade and for me that sealed the deal. The wings could have tasted like crap and I still would have enjoyed the meal.

Luckily they didn't though!

@mrsbozz enjoyed a turkey burger with onion rings and she thought it was really great. I had a bite of it and I have to agree with her. The truffle mayo that they put on the bun with the avocado was fantastic!

If I ever made my way back there, I would probably try one of the burgers. I would also make sure I left room for one of their shakes. There was a lady next to us that got one and it looked like a work of art.

My only complaint about Black Tap is the fact that when we sat down we ordered an appetizer of "Fried Mozz". It never showed up, but we weren't charged for it either, so it must have just been a miscommunication. In the end, I am not sure we would have been able to eat all of that food anyway.

Another day we were walking down the other side of the strip near Treasure Island and we decided we were hungry for a snack. Never being the type to turn down Mexican food, @mrsbozz and I made our way into El Segundo Sol.

It was a beautiful 70 degrees out when they got us situated at a table right next to a heater unit. Apparently being from Michigan what is pleasant for us is down right cold for other people. We didn't want to inconvenience the others so we sat quietly while our faces melted off...

Nothing that can't be fixed with a margarita though, and these were some fantastic ones! The drinks may be expensive in Vegas, but they sure do know how to mix them!

As we were deciding what we wanted to eat, we saw many servers walking by with a large bowl in their hands. Once we figured out it was Guacamole, the decision pretty much made itself.

The stone bowl they served it in was downright heavy and I thought it was going to break through the table when the waitress slammed it down. The "guac" was fantastic though being very similar to what I make at home. We actually enjoyed it so much that we made a return trip to El Segundo Sol a couple of days later when we wanted a snack.

The quesadilla we ordered to share with the guacamole wasn't anything special and I would probably pass on it if we ever found our way back.

The chips and salsa were pretty great though with the salsa having just the right amount of "kick" to it.

Given enough time and money, there are tons of other places I would have loved to eaten at while we were in Vegas.

It is doubtful I will ever return though, as there are countless other areas of the country that @mrsbozz and I are eager to explore!

That's a hefty bowl of ranch they gave you. Here they never give you enough and the sauce, in whatever form it is really makes the food,

It was a good thing too because @mrsbozz was stealing some of it to dip her onion rings in!

Ranch is uncommon in the UK, I don't know why because its awesome.. especially on wings.

I totally agree! I go for ranch vs Blue Cheese any day.

Wow. Looks really good and both are 'new places' for me. Thanks for sharing them.

I have at least one burger every time in Vegas. Every time :) My diet doesn't really support burgers, but you know...

Anyway, I always love the Stratosphere and their 'Hot Rod Cafe'. I'm not ready to anoint that 'best burger' but it is always a big treat for me. The milkshake makes the best list too!

Thanks Bozz. I'm looking forward to your 'windshield time'. Did you make it to the 'North Shore'?

I guess I'll just have to wait.

We went to the stratosphere but we just hung out near the sports book because we were watching the Michigan State game. We never made it back there.

First time vegas? Still on my bucketlist , just to see all the huge hotels and stuff. I am no gambler, but sure would try a casino or two :P

No, this was my third and probably last time there. Like I said, I have seen a decline over the years. My first time was probably 12 years ago or so and my second was just a couple of years ago. I do think everyone should go at least once just to see it.

I would spend the day eating and drinking. I must say the chicken wings look great with the sesame seeds on top as well. I am not a great fan of dips though and not a cheese fan either. I am glad you guys had a great time and now I suppose it is just trying to get back to normal after a nice break.

Indeed, the three hour time change really took its toll on me. I am still struggling to get up for work in the morning. It is Vegas so if you aren't eating and drinking you are probably gambling and in my opinion the food is a better use of your money!

I struggled when we flew back from the States against the time zones as it was a 6 hour difference ad it took me a full week to get over it. I love to gamble and eat so I take it I would need a small fortune to go there. I understand your decision to travel somewhere else as seeing new places is what travelling is all about. You have enough to see there without going outside your country. Have you been to Europe or anywhere else outside the States?

Does Canada count? I was supposed to go to Cabo a year or so ago bit our schedules didn't work out. Yes, you would definitely need a small fortune. Vegas used to be the place to go for good cheap eats back in the day. Not so much anymore. It's still great food, just at a price. You really need to go there once just to say you have been. I'd love to visit Europe someday. My wife has her heart set on Italy and I would love to see Spain.
