Bozzlife: Tree Tuesday

This is a post for #treetuesday sponsored by @old-guy-photos. I have contributed to it a couple of times, but not that frequently. The truth is, I don't usually pay much attention to the trees I see in my every day life.

I got thinking the other day that @mrsbozz and I have some pretty interesting trees in our own yard and it might be a good idea to grab some shots of them sometime. When we moved into our current house, the previous owners had been quite the garden bugs. Relatively speaking, neither of us really have much of a green thumb. My garden pics from last year might make you think differently, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Anyway, due to their penchant for gardening, there were quite a lot of plants and some specialized landscaping in place when we moved in. The tree you see in the picture is right next to our driveway. There was another one similar to it on the other side, but sadly it died. Actually, not sadly, it was in the way of where I park our travel trailer, so I wasn't that sad to see it go. They are actually very interesting trees though. If I had to guess, I would say that they were grafted together. The trunks appear to be a different type of tree from the part that actually produces the leaves.

I remember as I was removing the old trunk it had a very distinct lemon scent as I was cutting through it. The birds love them for making nests and when they are green it has a really cool look that I will show you in a second.

First take a look at those shrubs around the tree. I am not sure what they are called, but my wife and I hate those. We had my buddy come over with his Bobcat one day and pull them out for us. The end results is much more appealing though now we have to make sure we take care of the weeds that have popped up.

This is what the tree looks like in the Spring. I am actually quite fond of it and I think this picture does it a lot of justice. You can see how much nicer it looks with those stupid leaf collecting shrubs gone...

Just in the background to the right you can see another tree that is near the front door of our house. That one also appears to be a grafted tree, but the branches are much different. They are almost like a weeping willow tree, but much more sturdy and the leaves are fuller. I will try to get a picture of it when the leaves are fully green and share it as another #treetuesday post.

Fun fact, I cut both of these trees back each Fall, but by the middle of the next Summer the branches are all the way down to the ground again. I don't really mind because the branches end up being good kindling for starting our campfires in the Summer. That is just an idea of how fast they grow though.

Thanks for reading along, I hope you enjoyed my Tree Tuesday post.

MY dad had quite the green thumb something I did not inherit from him
I think clearing away those shrubs was a good idea it looks a lot better with them gone

Thanks for being an active member of SteemUSA !tip

We thought about putting some boxwood shrubs in there as replacements but I think we are just going to leave it now.

I think they look good just as they are, I sometimes think less is more

Since I started writing I'm always on the lookout for strange stuff, trees or whatever. I sometimes pull up the car for a photograph. The things you do for a pretty picture.

No doubt. My wife will go through it shared cloud storage on her phone and say "why did you take a picture of that?" Nine times out of ten it was for a post. You'd think she would know by now!

I love the shape of those trees. They are like weeping willows, but in miniature. My garden has always been packed full of plants, because keen gardeners lived there before I moved in. I always seem to be trying to cut things back. A few months ago I sharply trimmed back an overgrown bush, and found a birds' nest. I felt sad to have removed the protection from their home - though the bush has grown back so quickly, the birds have probably moved back.

Yes, we find new things every Spring and the weed control they had in place before is starting to fail. Weeding is our least favorite thing to do!

I agree, weeding is not much fun, but it can be strangely addictive.

Love that tree. It's small and beautiful like myself 😉
