@wherein is the vital doorway for Steem in China now as the Steemit door was closed over the weekend.

I have written about @wherein a few times before, but it has become even more crucial to the Chinese community And to the Steem community.Over the weekend the Steemit site was added to the sites that are banned.

It seems the controls have become a little tighter and Steemit is another one that they can't control. I am not surprised or shocked really as users who were banned from Youtube and other social media sites were welcomed with open arms by the blockchain. We have been putting the so called rotten apples and outcasts in one basket called Steem. This wouldn't have gone unnoticed from the Chinese authorities.

The Chinese government banned sites where these users were banned from so what did we all expect. What is good though is @wherein has been busy behind the scenes with their mobile app. It is Steem, but will have to have some sort of censorship restrictions for it's users somewhere along the line.

I first read about it through an @oracle-d article and I am sure they are supporting them wherever they can. This is hugely important for everyone on here that we have as many communities around the world represented. I know censorship sucks, but rather have censorship and Steem through @wherein than no Steem at all.

If you haven't looked them up yet go and check their Steem page out and follow what they are doing. The blockchain is growing and we need the Chinese community to be a part of this. Their community is just too big and when Steem reaches it's highs they need to be a part of it.

I don't know what they need to do to keep this doorway open for everyone but I am sure @oracle-d and @wherein are doing what is required to stay inside the regulations.I know they have a great development team and if anyone can pull it off they can.

Would you clarify what you're saying a bit, please? The Steem blockchain is not a site. Did the Chinese government block steemit.com or what? Or all the other well-known blogging front ends except for wherein.io?

Sorry Markku it is Steemit. Thanks for showing my error. Apparently they can use Partiko and @wherein to post still plus Dtube.

Let's hope the Chinese government won't wise up to the fact that shutting down one front end won't do any good.

It is worrying and I don't know why shutting down one end and leaving the others open will change anything. You apparently need a phone number to do anything on the internet in China these days. Having these as mobile apps maybe there are some controls that they will implement so that they will pass their censorship laws.

What implications do you think this has now. Do you think they will block all access or just control it someway? Can they control the censorship or not? I don't quite get why they have done one and left the others open unless they can do some sort of control.

It depends on a lot of details I'm not familiar with.

Just doesn't make sense and hopefully someone who is in the know will do a post soon.

Unfortunately, Steemit.com was restricted in china, but there is a few good news that Partiko and WhereIN is not affected much.
If Steem and WhereIN want to develop in China, we must talk to the government. Dialogue with the government requires us to form an important force as soon as possible, and WhereIN is working. If the community believes in us, please work with us.

I had read about this ban, that puts us up with google and facebook :-) but I am sure there are ways around it...lets see how creative people are
