Freewrite Day 714 Law and Order

freewrite law and order fitinfun.jpg

The laws are here to keep order, so they say. There is a law in San Diego that makes it illegal to pick through people’s trash. So a homeless person who finds good food another threw away, or something to use for shelter, can get fined or go to jail for trying to stay alive.

Where I live in SE Asia has no such law, and going through the trash of others is not seen as a bad thing at all. This practice is highly organized in Bangkok and well tolerated everywhere else I was. We sorted trash for the people who came by where I lived in Northern Thailand. We had a place to put it, and the owner put it early so people would have a chance at it before the main collector came by.

I don’t follow this subject much, but at one point the us had the largest per capita of the population in prisons and jails. And I guess these are mostly for non-violent crimes. After seeing how many of my son’s group on young adults ended up there, I believe it. For awhile there, if the kid was not dead, he or she might be in jail. Once you get into the system, it is hard to break free and start over. And of course the dead ones aren’t coming back at all.

And how about those law-makers? Pure as the driven snow – every one them, so the rest of the population is in good hands.

My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. Freewrite is a great way to post on STEEM when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. It’s a great way to start regular posting, and I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.

It's a travesty that it's not lawful to get food that is thrown away if needed. It's awful that there are those who can't afford food and necessities. When we were broke and raising kids we did dumpster diving at local pharmacies that threw out a lot of things we could use. The pharmacy started dumping stuff on them to make sure that they were not something that anybody would want to take anymore. That ended that run. Have a wonderful weekend.

Crazy! I know of places that set things out nicely so people can get them. Ruining them is such a mean way to go. I hope you have a great one too, @wandrnrose7.

I so agree. We can become a more friendly society if we freely give to others what we don't need. @fitinfun.

Upvoted 100% and by @sandiegocoin and resteemed and im happy to see you mention san diego and use the tag! i feel like it must be working! i knew id find some san diego related people!

LOL yeah funny you say that about the trash law because Ive never seen cops enforce the law, they seem to have been ordered to give homeless people carte blanche to terrorize the community sometimes, one guy had a machete going from trash can to trash can, and the cops were called and just laughed and said he was just trying to do his job lol i kid you not, was a hilarious nextdoor app reading... couldn't believe i read it lol but i get it... the homeless where i live are drawn here for the meth canyons and the hospitals

its sad because the hospitals draws the dealers who go where the people are, and its america so even if your homeless u can get access to money and ebt and the cartels and dealers dont care theyll take whatever money they can get sometimes its the homeless themselves dealing too, so ya know, its a crazy cycle. but most of the cash they get from collecting recyclables goes to fund habits and addictions like drugs but we are all addicted to things like gasoline or electricity.... we just manage it better.... drug addicts need methadone and the ones who are stubborn need to be told by a JUDGE to either do methadone or go to jail nexttime they get caught with dope, the current drug court system is convoluted and is liek hell, no oen wants to go deal with it, but we could have a steem based methadone clinic drug rehab system where you get tokens for being clean

For the meth and benzos theyll require different treatment but at least you can wipe out like half the drug addicts if you push methadone to get rid of the opiates, just paya few pop culture icons to promote methadone instead of the codeine that's being promoted... and legalizing cannabis also helps get rid of a lot fo street crime... hard drugs legalization and regulation will also take care of sooo many issues of homelessness

ya know i realize in indonesia its more simple than USA where we have so many weird problems 1st world problems...

Anyway i hope you know teh work Ive done with many homeless people around san diego and you can google image "ackza steemit san diego" anyway I know it may sound harsh my story about the guy with the machete, lol but the cops seriously have never stopped anyone from lookin through trash here not that ive seen lol, im sure it can happen in some neighborhoods but maybe here they just gave up and just gave them a day to go through the trash on trash day lol, i mean, sometimes they make a mess and its fucked up, others are so neat and have little schedules and flashlights and say hi and we know them... so yeah... it is something we should be building

an eos based homeless network could be a safety net .. you could pay some homeless to around and help the others, use steem and eos and tokenization to incentivize them to bring others to the methadone clinics, they should pay them referal programs to pay cash everytime they bring a new signup to the methadone clinic and they stay for a month and are clean etc

ANYWAY im just excited to see you post on steemsandiego.com or use the #sandiego tag

TY so much, @ackza. The homeless problem is a big one for sure. My 27 year old son is homeless now with a lot of health problems, so I worry constantly. I also got involved with the homeless veteran problem while working for the US Navy and that is a crime.

I'm glad you are ramping up the SD action and will do my best to keep up. I think the local groups are the best ones on STEEM. FYI - I am in Malaysia, not Indonesia, but that might be next!
