Things you don't learn in school! How to be kind to yourself and others!

Have you ever walked in a mall and just watched the people faces that walk past?

Some people look angry, some look happy and others just look so rushed.  If you see someone that you know, you might have a quick conversation and then everyone just go their separate ways again.

Life has become so rushed that we are so focused on ourselves, that we forget that life is more than just rushing and working.

We don’t have time for ourselves anymore, what to say for others.  Life is short and it is important to change your ways while you still have time.

How can you be kind to someone else if you are unable to be kind to ourselves?

How much time do you spend on yourself every day? If you don’t look after yourself, you will definitely not be able to look after anyone else. You need to be kind to yourself so that you can be kind to others.

Make sure to make time for yourself during the day!

Do something that brings you joy.  It is not selfish to have some “me time” every day.

Give yourself some recognition on a daily basis. We are very quick to compliment others but we don’t often acknowledge our own achievements. This is absolute nonsense.  You deserve to give yourself some recognition for your achievements as you have worked very hard to achieve them.

When you do something that you are proud of, stop for a minute and think about it.  Praise yourself by saying:

                           Kudos to myself!

Do not criticize yourself all the time. Do not listen to that little inner voice judging you all the time and start fighting for yourself.  You are worth it, so don’t allow YOU to put yourself down!

Forgive yourself for past mistakes. We are all human, and we all make mistakes.

Perhaps you did something in your past that is haunting you and you are not proud of?

Perhaps you failed to stand up for yourself, and let someone walk all over you?

Perhaps you missed a good opportunity because you were scared to take the chance?

Perhaps you did not reach a goal you set for yourself?

Whatever it is, let it go! You have to stop clinging to the past because you cannot move forward if something is constantly pulling you back.

Pick up a pocket of potatoes and carry it around for a day. At the end of the day when you put it down, you will feel the weight lifting of your shoulders. Do the same with your problems and you will feel lighter that you have ever felt before.

Stop being angry at yourself.  Whatever happened, happened, and you cannot turn back time so there is no reason to dwell in the past.

Take good care of yourself.  The best way to show kindness is to look after yourself.  Get enough sleep, take your vitamins and get some exercise. Find a positive way to get rid of stress.  Dress properly and look after you appearance.  You never know who is waiting for you around the corner.

Respect yourself.  Value yourself and don’t let anyone dictate your value.  You are old enough to make your own decisions as well as your own mistakes.  Do not compare yourself to others, because everyone is special in their own special way.

Stop trying to be perfect.  No one is, and you will disappoint yourself all the time if you expect everything to be perfect all the time.

Lastly but not the least, treat yourself once in a while. You don’t have to go and spend a fortune but if you want something really expensive then save up for it. This will give you something to look forward to and you could feel extra special if you finally achieve your goal.

Being kind to yourself is not where it stops.  Now that you have learned to be kind to yourself, it is important to be kind to others.

How to be kind to other people!

Being kind to others will also help you to feel better about yourself.

Kindness doesn’t cost a thing and there is no specific reason why you have to do this but it will make you more acceptable to others and in the end nothing else but kindness really matters.  You don’t need a specific reason to help other people, but as you walk through the mall and you see those unhappy faces, you can help change someone’s day.

Just by smiling at someone that looks stressed could help change their day. You don’t know what they are going through and one little smile could make them feel loved.

All is fair in love and war, but what if you could help make the world a better place by promoting peace

If someone needs to talk, be there for them and just listen to what they have to say even though you might not have the solution to their problems.

A simple hug can go a long way.  Scientists have proven that by merely a hug, someone’s blood pressure can be lowered and their anxiety levels can go down.

Put in effort to send out a kind email so that others can feel appreciated. The more you practice this gesture the easier it will become for you.

Make sure to compliment someone.  You see plenty of people on a daily basis, and if you can only compliment one person a day, it could change their whole day.  It will make them feel good about themselves, and they will perform better in whatever they have to do. If someone needs help cleaning up, offer to do it for them or at least help them in a more practical way.  When you see someone litter, go and pick it up.

A little gesture like keeping open the door for someone else can also make a difference in the person’s life.

Encourage your friends or family members when they are not motivated, and get rid of your own anger by making peace with someone that you might have hurt in the past.

In a shop, have a chat with someone that you don’t know, and if you can afford it, pay for goods from the person behind you in the line.

While driving, be kind and give someone a space in your lane while driving.  They might also be tired and just want to get home.

Go and spend some quality time with friends and family who needs it.  Tell them that you love them and that you appreciate them.  Life is short, you never know when it is the last time you see someone.

Try and be positive and think before you speak. Words can hurt someone more than you can think and you cannot take back something that was said.

There are plenty of other ways to be kind to others but the smallest act of kindness can go a very long way.

Every time I see someone promoting this mindset and values I am glad that more and more people are becoming aware, understanding and helping others to do the same. I was in a bad place when I met my partner and even though I already knew the things you'vediscussed in your post, I didn't understand them and I had no idea how to implement them into my life and benefit from them. He helped me with this in a massive way, particularly with understanding forgiveness. I was so unaware of how much guilt I carried for things in my past, I was being harder on myself than anyone else ever had, and I wasn't letting go. It turned out that I actually didn't know what the correct definition of "forgiveness" was. I think a lot of people don't actually know and this is the main reason why so many people are unable to forgive (others and themselves). Now things are a lot different for me, I look back and can't believe how I was able to spend years of my life in so much pain, not knowing how to do something as simple as beingkind to myself. I used to have a lot of health problems too, including IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and now I can't even remember how long since I last experienced symptoms - it's amazing how every aspect of your life is affected and I'm so glad for theimprovements in my life. Now I am able to help others to learn what I have learned, help them understand when they are experiencing difficult times etc, and I work with children too which is such a blessing to have the opportunity to be there at that crucial stage in their development and help them get on the right track sooner rather than later. I know I have rambled on a bit here but I really like your post, I love sharing this with others.

We are living in a world filled with negitivity and unkind people , if only we would stop and listen to people just listen and hear their pain , give them a hug and a kind word , when we kind to others we are being kind to ourselves , I love your very inspiring story. We need more like that.

My favourite pass time, sitting, having a coffee and watching the "passing parade", trying to guess what each person is so concerned about as they walk past on the footpath.
Even better fun if there are two of you so you can discuss that persons problems from the look of their faces

Ha ha....I sit in a corner and do exactly the same...it's so funny...
