in #busy6 years ago

It is a fact that countries are looking for creative ways to implement cryptocurrencies in their respective societies, recognizing that these digital assets are an international attraction, which fits and complements the city of Agnes Water, one of the main tourist centers of the whole territory, giving the creation of the first " City of Digital Coins " of Australia, officially presenting Agnes Water-1770.

The name can be seen on a billboard welcoming visitors, saying: "Welcome to Agnes Water-1770, the first digital coin city in Australia."

The initiative to implement these payments with digital currencies comes from the local real estate agent, Gordon Christina, inspired by an experience with a client, which investigated how their small store could process payments with Bitcoins.

That interest intensified when he read the news that Brisbane International Airport, a five-hour drive from Agnes Water, had begun accepting cryptocurrencies at several retail stores.

His vision is for the city to overcome the barriers it currently has, using technological innovation as a bridge to achieve it, cryptocurrencies will be the bait to attract the international community and their culture who hooks them.

First he was in charge of convincing the local legislators to allow the transactions of goods - cryptocurrencies, after that it was simple, because the local companies were enthusiastic about the idea.

"We started from scratch, we shared it with a couple of companies and they were directly on board ... I guess they were international travelers and had heard about these types of payments," he told ABC News. "Initially we had a good 10 companies that only said: 'Good, go ahead.'

Currently, 31 local businesses, including resorts, backpackers, tourism companies and restaurants, now accept cryptocurrency payments through a point-of-sale application developed by TravelbyBit, a crypto-payment company based in Queensland. Payments are supported by Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, NEM, Litecoin and Ethereum cryptocurrencies

"We have dealers throughout Australia, but they are very sporadic," said TravelbyBit CEO Caleb Yeoh. "Agnes Water and the city of 1770 has the highest concentration".
