Leonard Shelby(Guy Pearce) es un agente de seguros retirado, se dedica a investigar el asesinato de su esposa, el problema es que él sabe quién la asesino pero no lo puede recordar cuando trataba de agarrar al asesino se dio un golpe en la cabeza quedo inconsciente y al despertar su memoria quedo afectada y ahora le impide almacenar recuerdos, lo recuerdos que obtiene en el día los pierde al despertarte en la mañana.
Para recordar las pistas que va obteniendo se tatúa nombre o frases que lo pueden ayudar a recordar
esta película es presentada en orden inverso y confunde aún más con un protagonista que no puede crear nuevos recuerdos y que busca a el asesino de su esposa.
En última instancia este thriller psicológico te mantendrá adivinando, descifrando y clasificando eventos mucho después de la primera vez que la veas (créeme verla al revés no ayuda a nada)
