Get Busy

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

What has been consuming your time and making you busy lately? Talk about it, gain followers, and keep blogging about what you're up to, using https://busy.org and the #busy tag. It's a good way to collect some extra Steem, especially as you earn more followers with higher SP.

The best way to go about this is to deep dive and produce quality content that's close to your heart, instead of having a blog roll that screams "spam". As always, the focus on milking it is likely to be counter-productive. Just do what you love. The money may come later. Maybe easier said than done, but hey, it needs to be said first, and it's definitely doable.

What am I busy about lately?

Well I'm always free, but I like to make myself busy. An idle mind is the workshop of the devil they said. With that I've been busy reading a lot, writing posts that I can't finish satisfactorily (I have well over 200 drafts now), working out but not as much as I could, and advising some peers on blockchain-related application development.

Ironically I've been spending less time with family and friends these days, so it's quite the total opposite of what I expected before I dumped my dayjob about 21 months ago. I guess that's what happens when one is free to pursue their interests, no holds barred. Maybe I should also start producing more lively content, even though I'm quite a private person in general. I just feel there's some untapped potential in my blog that I haven't been leveraging for the past year.

Being someone who's scatterbrained and have a little too much interests in too many things, I've recently gone back through some of my writings and consolidated my plans. Now that I've observed and sufficiently researched about blockchain communities, I've learned that most of my past hypothesis for open-source communities have largely been wrong as I was quite naive. But with new insights comes new tweaks to the blueprint. The greatest thing lacking now in the cryptospace is a general discovery protocol for end-users, besides the scaling of discussion and consensus enabled by something like Tau. I'll talk more about this in later posts.

Oh and recently there's a change in the local government, which almost certainly means that outdoor music festivals are okay again, so maybe I'll get back into the music events (we had our major music event receiving a last-minute cancellation by the authorities earlier this year due to some political nonsense, hence the company hiatus at the moment).

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

Busy being busy? If you've been working hard on something behind closed doors, maybe you'd want to consider reading something I wrote last year on Working Out Loud. I know. I'm equally bad at executing on my own words since I haven't been doing this all that much as well lol. Burn outs are real and can go on for extended periods of time. It has been almost a year for me, and boy, it sucks!

I just started working for an upstart online ESL provider in China. Packed up my bags and moved over to Shanghai in March. It's been a crazy few months getting to know my way around the company and also the city.

I think the future of ESL learning is online so I a excited about the position and the booming market in China. As for crypto, I've kind of put it on the backburner for a few months, just investing a few grand here and there into projects that look like they have big potential.

As for personal life, still working on building up my endurance to run a full marathon. I've run two half marathons but getting my body into the condition needed to run a full is a daunting task.

Have a good weekend bud

Work, streaming games on dlive and sleeping.

No waking up? Magic!

I'm busy grinding away my life on digital art and attempts at humor that just make me look like a goddamn idiot every single day and for some reason I don't stop. Then, I write a stupid comment like this on someones blog where I make it sound like I'm angry about something, but I'm not. That just makes my life worse, yet I still continue doing it. I put this picture on Ned's blog the other day:
NoNamesLeftToUse - Simple Diagram.jpeg
And now I feel like an asshole. That's how I explain Steemit to people. How was I supposed to know nobody would get the joke?

Damn. Look at this dog:
Smiling Jack.jpg
He's not mad, he's smiling!

Nobody gets him either! His name is Jack and if he jumps on you, you have to say, "Jack! Off!" "Jack! Off!" Just keep saying that until he listens. Don't worry about all those people with their kids in the park. It's perfectly normal to yell that kind of stuff.

So what else can I tell you?

Busy busy. Better get back to it! Time is money. No rest for the weary. You know how it is.

P.S. I'm actually experiencing one of my worst burnouts yet. I'm starting to think it's permanent. Oh well. Have a good day.

Hahaha i keep running into you on posts! i love your sense of humor @nonameslefttouse :P

I don't even know why I did that. LOL!

Lol i thought that squiggly drawing is pretty similar, although ned's dpos drawing looks more like cult material. Connect 21 dots and summon the devil. Hope the tinfoilers don't pick up on it.

Well I don't know about you, but I'll be stocking up on tinfoil in case there's ever a shortage. Then I'm cashing in. That stuff will be worth more than gold! Hodl foil!

Well, being busy for busy sake doesn't really sound like a fantastic use of time. It's more important to enjoy the journey instead. I think you could use a little bit of downtime. The french have a saying that goes, "Reculer pour mieux sauter." What it meant is that one has to take a step back in order to advance. Better to have clarity of thoughts. Cheers!

Haha not really busy for busy sake, just saying i can drop whatever i'm doing anytime since i dont have any work obligations. You're right though, relaxing and doing nothing is the best. But i gotta get out of the city

Experiencing something similar to you between the freedom and the let's call it solitude... After a few years of studying the principles of lifestyle design, this was my first week of only working 10 hours to earn my income.

Crazy shit!!

Now I'm focusing all of my additional time on impact-oriented projects. Relevant to Steem, I'm launching a physical magazine (the long awaited "Musician's Guide to Steem") and I'm hopefully going to distribute thousands of copies for free via steem-funding.

It's a big time for steem imo. But like you said, many are going down a weird path. I think its important to focus 100% on quality of content and reaching a real audience.

I dumped my dayjob about 21 months ago

I'm amazed to learn that and really curious what was the reason to grant you that ability. Guess your early discovery of Steem must be part of the reasons right?

I too enjoy so much diving in the sea of blockchain and crypto in my spare time for a year. Living the life like yours sounds like a complete dream for me.

Hope that one day I can do what I love(or not even doing anything) for financial support, and study about this space day and night. That would be great.

I was already on the verge of quitting, and yeah steem definitely made it easier. Hmm i think it's possible to make this transition if one does not have much commitments and if one's a minimalist..

Yea, guess I can still call myself a minimalist comparing the commitment my sema-age peers have. Trying really hard now just to prepare for a life that spells more about crypto.

Studying stories of early-adopters like yours keep reminding how reluctant I was and motivating me to never stop learning, great share once again.

I think Steem presents one of the best opportunities to build something on the chain. I mean there are many other blockchain projects as well, but I feel they're not getting active end-users coming back day after day. So yea the best is to build around blockchains that are getting massively adopted vs an unproven premise

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

University and exams are happening right now. Nothing to be afraid of though, I'm ready and will be safe and sound. It took a huge chunk of my time and I couldn't post on steemit because had to concentrate a lot.

All the best in the exams!

Thanks, it will be easy peasy. Like a walk in the park. I'm prepared well :b

what exams are u taking if you dont mind me askin?

Economics, finance, social psychology, management... and other boring stuff, don't mention lmao :D

Recently, I am interested in photography. I'm starting to understand what's what, my work is getting better. I notice that. And it is so motivating for further work. I'm almost sick of Steemit, I even see ideas when I sleep. It's all so busy for me that I'm rightfully putting the tag Busy. I'm very busy But I also understand that I need to take a break. Soon I will participate in the final quest from Sndbox, in which I just have to prove myself to the maximum. And I'm a little worried that fatigue will take its toll. But I can not escape from the creative abyss that has captured me now. Although, maybe it should be. At least I feel happy doing it. And it's so important to enjoy your classes.

Hey that's good to know, where are you learning photography? Always a great experience to be getting deep into some work :)

LOLOLOL Dudeeee, Busy being busy. Same. This is a simple post I do understand completely LOL once you start to get deeper, I'm like, (OoO) Your 200 post drafts sounds crazy !

I used to blog a lot more quite a while back but not much time lately as I've been really BUSY making vids. I'm obsessed! Good idea to write more on busy as you said tho. I should do it more often!! ❤

I'm making a move to videos, but have been saying it since forever. Writing is much easier, as I can take my time, have more control over the experience, and don't have to make up and all lol

Talk about it, gain followers, and keep blogging about what you're up to

Been doing that lately as well but never tried Busy. Kinda got accustomed to using Steemit front end that everything else feels comfortable even if it means an extra vote from Busy!

produce quality content that's close to your heart, instead of having a blog roll that screams "spam".

Also, producing spam won't give peace of mind and happiness that you get when you post a high quality and useful article.

I just feel there's some untapped potential in my blog that I haven't been leveraging for the past year.

Tbh I loved reading your blogs once upon a time. Now I don't see so much energy in it. Bored of Steemit?
You know, you could easily be on the top list if you wrote at your full potential!

I have well over 200 drafts now

Start pumping them out man! We're eagerly waiting. :D

So what are you busy bees busy about lately?

Trying not to miss posting even a single day, to upgrade my recording gear and create better quality content! :D
Also, preparing my bike for another big ride to the Himalayas!

Cheers bro!

Lol may I ask up to which part of the blog is interesting? Yeah i think it's evident that i've been on burn out mode for close to a year now. thanks for the encouragement. Himalayas are great. I wish to travel there someday.

Lol may I ask up to which part of the blog is interesting?

Most of your posts from 6-8 months back. There was life in them and they were fun to read.

Yeah i think it's evident that i've been on burn out mode for close to a year now.

A 2-3 week off from www, phone and everything electronic should do the trick to heal you a 100%. I know it's pretty hard in today's world to stay away for such a long time and leads to FOMO.
So, alternate days of usage should do the trick. Also, I think you've been reading too much content? Leads to cognitive overload. I had faced it a few months back too when I went on a book reading spree. I stayed away from everything for a while and I was back in form. Those times without electronics were really blissful.

thanks for the encouragement

Anytime, bro.

Himalayas are great. I wish to travel there someday.

Lemme know if you come by to India. @firepower and I will be glad to show you around and maybe travel to Himalayas too! :)
