The name Chaturbhuj is the place 'chatur' signifying "four" and 'bhuj' signifying "arms" which truly means "one who has four arms" and alludes to Rama a symbol of Vishnu. The sanctuary has a complex multi-storied auxiliary view which is a mix of sanctuary, post and castle structural highlights.

It is the main sanctum in the nation where Rama is revered as a lord. The administration of the sanctuary on an everyday premise is the obligation of the Ram Raja Trust However, the preservation of the sanctuary structure itself is under the control of the State Archeology Department.
