I was excited to get some curation done this week as fellow Steemian @roleerob posted two great posts (linked below) that serve as great guides for not only new users that have recently joined the community but also those that have struggled to understand some of the moving pieces here on #STEEM. I wish I had known a lot of these things we I first started as the posts that were most visible when I started were mostly promoted posts that had other interests in mind which did not necessarily serve the best interest of those just getting started. However, as the hype started to stabilize, you could clearly start to see those users and communities that had the long term viability and interest of the ecosystem at heart.

Despite a lot of continued debate on the needed changes to how posts and accounts are rewarded here, I continue to believe that the most important factor at this stage is properly onboarding and supporting new users as they onboard in order to foster behavior that will add value among the community and its users. The recent Hard Fork has made substantial changes to not only the ability to onboard new users via the account claim function but also added the new resource credit system that allows new users to engage without necessarily have the Voting Power as in the past to do so. We have continued to see a number of DApps continue to claim accounts and I believe they could be developing ways to quickly onboard users with accounts immediately to leverage the interest when first signing up. We have also heard of development in the code to allow resource credit delegation which will add the ability to further engaged for these new users. My early days engaging in the platform allowed me to receive a number of upvotes and rewards that quickly built up my Steem Power to allow me to vote and curate within a month of started. If we could focus on this effort and see how these changes could influence changes in engagement and retention, we may not even need additional changes like those being discussed today.

This week, I found it somewhat easier to find some good #introduceyourself posts to highlight below:

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@halo4shaun/shaun-hi-new-on-steemit-approved-after-2-weeks

@halo4shaun is a young guys who guys who is enjoying arts as a what to look at the positive side of our experiences around the world. He has shared some photos and music in an effort to have a more interactive experience in the platform. He looks keen on sharing through social media so it will be interesting to see how he brings this to life on #STEEM.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@onetechtraveller/empowering-people-to-travel-smart-and-live-smart-i-m-one-tech-traveller

@onetechtraveller is a young entrepreneur that has been creating content independently for two years travelling the world and gaining experiences to share with technology that have made it easier to do so. He looks to share these experiences through photographs, videos and blogs as he continues his journey around the world with focus on tech, lifestyle, entrepreneurship, and wellbeing. It seems as though he has an opportunity to leverage his other social media presences to foster the #STEEM community.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@thecryptocurve/we-re-cryptocurve-the-front-end-of-wanchain-and-we-re-officially-on-steemit

@cryptocurve is actually project based on other blockchain protocols seeking to add cryptocurrency adoption by providing an interaoperable solutions utilizing the Wanchain protocol. They have created the Cruve ecosystem to bring together investors, developers and emerging companies to continue the adoption of the technology around the world. They mention integration with Aion and ICON which is particularly interesting as those were projects that had huge following during their ICOs in the last year. They decided to come to STEEM to connect with the community in a decentralized and uncensored fashion. They recently had a bad experience on a centralized platform when their account was inexplicably suspended. This is great for STEEM to continue being attractive for other decentralized projects as they advance their roadmaps toward the future.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@northwestnomad/hello-steem-community-and-greetings-from-a-traveling-cartoonist

@northwestnomad is truly an interesting profile! He has travelled the world in searching for his calling after the corporate environment did not provide the passion he was searching for in an engineering career. In addition to his traveling he has also found an interest in cooking and of course blockchain and cryptocurrencies. He has gone into business with what he has learned which has even included mining cryptocurrencies. Most interestingly, he is also a cartoonist who publishes a weekly comic strip since 2017. He intends to use these experiences to share his journey here with the community.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@mindpixel/hello-world-get-ready-for-mindpixel

@mindpixel is an interesting person who is passionate about technology in that he calls himself a transhumanist which I learned means “the use of technology to extend and enhance one’s life.” He uses his knowledge and experience as a coder and cryptocurrency enthusiast to create programs and even mine cryptocurrencies as well. He says he knows the Java language more than English which is impressive because the English was pretty good. I like these types of profiles as I think #STEEM continues to be a great place where people with talent and passion can develop and build something that can add value to the community.

Given the great post from @roleerob, I updated my comment for the curation posts to include links to his post given the value it could potentially add to the users that are currently onboarding onto #STEEM. The amount of information on just one post was great to read through even as a more experienced account. It not only helped me reinforce my thoughts to what I am doing and how I engage with his comments on communities and tasks, but it also made me feel proud of what we can do as a community to help those that need guidance. In last week’s post, I mentioned my concern on the length of my comment in the curation posts and got the feedback that I could potentially write a post to reference to; well, @roleerob did that for me! I may still adjust the formatting of my comment as more of a reference but I believe that the link to @roleerob’s post is more than enough value at this junction. I also think it is great that he also sees this as a “work in progress” because we are in an every evolving ecosystem where things will surely continue to change. So here is an image of how my latest comments look:

Week 10 Comment.png

I hope this to be an evolving process to the benefit of the community so please continue providing feedback to support these and all the new users coming to the platform. I am looking forward to more new users coming and engaging with the community to solidify the social aspect of the #STEEM blockchain.

Have there been any new users you have found that I can pay a visit to? How can we continue to support new users in order to manage their expectations coming to this new platform? I look forward to your thoughts and feedback in the comments below!

I love how you promote new users, you are a great steemian host and ambassador.

Real nice work here @newageinv bringing attention to new Steemians. At some point, I hope to join you in a similar effort. Time will tell ...

Currently sitting in an airport bound for Texas. A business trip over the next 10 days ...

So, while I won't quite "go dark," I'll definitely have much less time to engage.

I did want to come "in here" though and support your great post!
