Growing up with my childhood friends, we heard horrible tales of a particular man in my hometown and how wicked he was, there were rumours that he was diabolical and no one dared go close to him or his house. As children, we were warned never to play around his house, but we were mischievous. One day, one of us threw a stone at the man's house and broke a glass, it wasn't on purpose though as we were playing, we all thought the man will catch us and eat us alive, we were so scared, we didn't want to die. When he came out of his house and met us, instead of being the monster we heard he was, he became a friend, he started advising us to be good children, he spoke to us warmly with love and we went home. Wow! So much for a monster of a man.

I've come to realise that no one is purely good and no one is purely evil, there is a good and bad in everyone. It all depends on the path that we dwell on, some people dwell on their bad side, they give in to the evil thoughts that runs through their mind and that makes them evil but that doesn't rule out the good in them.
Also, someone might be bad to you and be good to another person, that doesn't make the person bad, it could be a reaction of the way you treated the person. This is the reason why believing what people say about someone is not ideal. Don't judge a person by what people say, find out for yourself. Give the person a benefit of doubt, you might find out that people are wrong, after all, people criticize what they don't know, it's a way of getting defensive and hiding their own evil. They make you focus on that person's bad side so much, in order to hide theirs.

Some of these bad people were not taught to show goodness, some of them are that way as a result of the wrong indoctrinations they got while growing up, or even heartbreaks, some of them are not strong enough to withstand the evil that runs through their mind, what these people need is love. Remember Love conquers all things. When you keep showing them love even when they hate, you will realize how fast that could unlock that hidden goodness in them. Some of them don't change though, I don't think Adolf Hitler did, but that doesn't mean you should dance to their tune by paying them with evil. Be the good person, no matter how bad you are being treated and leave them to battle with their demons.
As life gets tough, people tend to be more frustrated and they give in to their bad side more than the good, don't give in, no matter how much hurt they may cause you, just keep being good, you might just change someone's life. Extend your heart and love to them, it can encourage their goodness.

Sometimes life shapes us into what we don't want to be. Sometime ago, I conversed with a lady who everyone assumed to be hostile and unfriendly. But on getting close to her, I discovered that it was people and events that turned her this way.
We all have elements of darkness and light in us, which ever we feed grows the most.
So so true. I stopped condemning people and looking down on them because of they did. I never knew their background or how they grew up. I instead show them love now because truely love conquers all. Thank you for writing
