Saudi Arabia cancels import food grains from Canada!!

Extreme diplomatic tensions between Canada and Saudi Arabia Responding to the demand of the release of prisoners activists from Saudi Arabia on behalf of Ottawa, Riyadh has taken several 'punitive' steps against the Canadian ambassador, including the suspension of investment-related businesses and Canada. The product market is not dropped. The Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) has announced the import of food grains (wheat and barley) from Canada for the ongoing conflict. News Reuters and Agrimini.Reuters reports that SAGO has issued notices to private importers of Saudi Arabia to stop imports of wheat and barley from Canada for the sake of diplomacy. The notice said the import of wheat and barley from Canada at the public and private levels would be completely closed. But before the start of the diplomatic dispute, there was no information on the future of the contracts that Saudi importers made for importing wheat and barley from Canada. Due to this, the Canadian importers, as well as the Saudi importers, are concerned.

Saudi Arabia is the world's second largest barley exporter. Saudi Arabia is ranked 18th in the global list of wheat importer countries. Every year, the country imports significant wheat and barley from Canada. According to the Canadian Government's data, in the year 2017, a total of 1.32 million tonnes of barley is imported from Canada to Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia imported 66 thousand tons of wheat from the country in 2017. The amount of the previous year was 68 thousand 250 tons.SAGO has started the process of importing 6,25,000 tonnes of wheat from international auction on 16th July this year. It was expected that Saudi importers would import this wheat from Canada. But after the dispute, the company has advised import of wheat from Australia, South Africa, USA, South America or Europe instead of Canada.
