Why I Prefer Busy.org to Steemit.com: Getting Busy with It :0P

For ages I was wondering what the hell #busy was all about. A few weeks ago I went exploring on the blockchain, and, answering my own query, haven't looked back since.

Busy.org and Steemit.com are just different interfaces for the same thing. I read a good analogy once that they are just different trains on the same track carrying the same magic coal:

One day a group of Steemit train passengers decided to make their own train company because the Steemit seats were a little uncomfortable. They were happy with the tracks and the magic coal, but they wanted their train to be a different color and a different shape. They also wanted different curtains and more modern, comfortable furniture. Their ideas were born and developed while riding on the Steemit train. One day, their ideas grew so big that they needed more space than the train would provide. On this day, this group got off the Steemit train and began to build out their plans to make a different train company. They named their train company, Busy.org. Their train ran on the same tracks as the Steemit train and used the same magic coal.

It has the support of Steemit Inc and isn't a competitor, in fact, bringing more value to the blockchain, and is founded by @fabian and @ekitcho. You can read about busy.org here and their release notes are here.

As many of you well know, I'm far from an expert on Steemit, but a few of my gorgeous Steembees here have wondered what the hell I'm talking about when I asked them if they used busy, so this post is for them, and anyone else who wants a super basic run down on why I use this interface over Steemit.com.

1. Sliding Vote Bar

Us poor plankton always have to vote at 100 percent, which means we can use up our voting power pretty quickly. On Busy.org, you get that option straight away. That means I can give my full vote for the posts I'm super effusive about, and less than that for the ones I think are 'awesome' and moving down the scale to 'hey, that's cool'. Mind you, if you're giving teeny eeny votes they might not be worth a lot anyway, but that's another hard topic I'm wrapping my head around.

2. Drafts

I always have about twenty ideas on the go and not all of them are complete! My brain is like a computer with lots of tabs open until it crashes because there's just too much going on. I love how busy.org enables you to keep drafts of posts that you are working on. Sometimes I'll upload photos from my phone to Busy.org and then open the interface on my P.C and 'voila!' there's the draft - therefore, I can then type my content, which is a hell of a lot faster for me than one finger typing on my phone.

3. Real Life Steem Price

This seems easier than jumping over somewhere else in your browser to check this. Hey, the less tabs open in my life, the better I say!

4. Notifications

On steemit, I keep clicking replies to see if anyone's responded, which is a little like picking up the phone and saying 'hellllloooooo' when no-one has rung you yet. Busy.org gives you a notification button on the top right hand corner so you can see when someone has commented on your post.

5. Editing

Busy.org has a good editing function from headings to inserting links, which makes our job easier and saves us writing simple codes, which can be time consuming.

6. Bookmarking Function

Perhaps I've saved the best to last here, but this is an awesome function. Often I'm too 'busy' to read things in my feed at length, so in this way I can save them to read when I have a cuppa and a little more time to respond to the people who've taken the time to write great content and give them the attention they deserve.

What do you use for posting and perusing the Steem social media blockchain? If you use Busy, what have you found that is supercool about this platform? I'd love to hear from you, as your replies help me enormously!

Nice presentation of the different features Busy have! Beware your title is wrong. It's not Steem.com but Steemit.com ;)
Steem is the blockchain

Thanks, will edit now - I do know that - going a bit mad with all these tabs open! xx Proofreading's a bitch! I appreciate your comment - and Busy!!

@mrprofessor - this post is for you to answer your question: 'What is Busy'? :) Happy Wednesday x

You are the best!
So it basically works like steemit but with improved applications? Can you use exactly the same content here and there?

because it takes me a hell of a long time to completely write a story, that way I could simply use the same text on both platforms.

A wonderful Wednesday for you too xoxo

Yep yep and yep Yep!!!!

I have a mixture of blog posts, I do enjoy posting my drone images. Just depends on the time and day really.

Id love to make over a few dollars per post but unfortunatly haven't yet.

Hey @melbourneswest!! I'd love to see your drone images. I do try to upvote you but unfortunately my vote doesn't count for much. Have you joined @teamaustralia?

Awesome! I am one of those people who have no idea what busy.org is. I have heard of it here on steemit, but trying to find time to learn a little at a time. Thanks for doing the post! This helps me a whole lot. Will definitely look into busy when I am not so busy :)

Oh, the irony, huh? You are very welcome, and I appreciate your comment times a million! I had to find out for myself, so i wrote this to make it easy for others! Glad to be of service, and hope you have a gorgeously not-so-busy day!

At the moment I only really use Busy for the voting, when I don't want to use my whole 3 cents ;) at 70% vote slide-thingee I can give 2 cents to far more people! And I'm an upvote-a-holic, so. It's very helpful.

Planning to use Busy ALL the time when they get a dark theme!!! Seriously. White. WHITE SCREEN. Eyes. Dying. Screen glare. I have to turn my laptop screen down to 30% just to see. I think every website, ever, should have a dark theme to select.

Oh babe I hear you @kaelci ...!!! Plus that black screen is SEXY and the colours look so good against it!

Sneaky Ninja Attack! You have just been defended with a 2.81% upvote!
I was summoned by @riverflows. I have done their bidding and now I will vanish...

Oh cool, thanks for this! There are quite a few compelling reasons to start using Busy now you've told me what it is. I like-ee!

Happy to be of service!

There seems to be a trend with steemit.com vs busy.org comparos. Most of them side with Busy.org. I like busy.org for the notifications. I like steemit.com for viewing the feed and making transfers.

Each to his own, I'm sure. And I imagine that it won't be long before they being to trade features. I would love to see notifications that worked on Steemit.com.

Good review.

Thankyou. I didn't realise it was a trend.. was just replying to a few folk who asked me what Busy was. Glad you enjoyed it..

Oh.. I like Steemit better for the wallet transfers too...

You just planted 1.39 tree(s)!

Nice tutorial. I have an account at Busy but I haven't really used it. I think it just felt awkward since I am so used to Steemit. It does seem to have a bunch of advantages though.

To be honest, after writing this, I realised how much I flip back and forth. I love Busy but there's still some useful things at Steemit I like and am used to. But that suits my style. I'm also flexible if someone offers a better option AND I'm a creature of habit... lol. Thanks for your comment!
