SeanyTravels (Finland) #14 Jetting off to Santa's Home, Rovaniemi Lapland!
We left for HEL airport to begin our journey to Rovaniemi, Santa's Home!
One interesting thing that happened was that even though I brought my passport, I did not have to use it for the entire trip. I just had to scan the e-ticket on my phone. I might not be familiar with this as this was my first domestic flight in any country.
It was a short flight, as we flew from South to North of Finland. I closed my eyes to snooze, and the next moment I was there.
Santa welcomed us as soon as we got off the plane!
This airport was small, but it was very well decorated. Check out the Luggage collection point! Reindeers!
There were some interesting things and quotes outside the toilet.

We took a bus from the airport straight into the city centre, where we checked into our Airbnb. It cost us about 8 euros each. Taking the airport shuttle bus would have been cheaper but we didn't want to wait too long.
We quickly put down our stuff and went to see how the Town Center looked like.
Halfway there, we heard some noise in a stadium and walked in to see. It was a local soccer match!
I would not have expected people to be playing soccer in these temperatures, but I guess 4 degrees celsius is in fact warm enough.
We continued on to Rovaniemi City Centre. If you're ever lost, just look out for this tower. There wasn't many people out at this time and this day. It was Good Friday, and most of the shops were closed as well. There are many tour/travel agencies that help to organise sleigh trips, snowmobile, husky tours, so you don't have to worry about not booking online. If you're willing to pay a little more, you can just come to the shop and select their packages.
