Bangladesh's first gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad

Ahmed Jawad Chowdhury of Bangladesh won the gold medal for the first time at the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held in Romania.

Jawad is a student of Chittagong Cantonment English School and College. In the 42nd position, she won 32 gold medals in all.

Prior to that, Bangladesh's highest achievement in the International Mathematical Olympiad was Silver Win.

Jawad won silver medal with 23 points in the last 2017 Olympiad.

Bangladesh has won three bronze medals in the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad in Cluj-Napokaya City, Romania. The bronze medalists are: Tahnik Noor Samin (23), Jaideep Saha (19) and Tamzid Murshed Roubab (18). Besides, the other two members of the 6-member team, Rahul Saha and Soumitra Das have received honorary recognition.

Bangladesh's position in this year's Mathematics Olympiad is 41st. The neighboring countries of India and Pakistan were ranked 28th and 80th respectively.
